View Full Version : Gasol looking great, Rose not so sure...

If this tournament has showed anything, it's that Bulls can rely on Gasol to carry the second option burden, particularly in the playoffs.

I'm actually more concerned with how Rose is coming along than if Gasol has anything left in the tank.

Rose in spurts has looked awesome, but I won't get carried away with the highlights as I'm more concerned about what his weaknesses are at this point.

Heres some things I noticed during FIBA;

Negatives:

Still has that tunnel vision at times or not passing the ball when he should.

Still getting that shooting touch back, he's at 22% from the field so far I think in this tournament :/

Still too many turnovers, can't have that as a habit in the playoffs.(Rust)

His shooting and finishing has been terrible. Can't sugar coat that.

Positives:

The explosion is there, something a lot of people here said he wouldn't be the same.

Has been deferring a lot of the ball, but I think this is more Rose not caught up in who's scoring, ego isn't there.

His defense has been pretty solid. Not great, but average to above average.

So plenty to build on and quite frankly a 90% Rose in the playoffs and this team is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Very excited by Gasol's play, looks like a guy motivated and I see him as a great fit in this Bulls team. The part I like most about his play has been his defense. Has been blocking quite a few shots

The season is still a looooong ways off. If Rose has the explosion in his legs that's more important than his current shooting percentage or rust.

Pau's a great passer and has always played well with other bigs. He'll be playing with the best big he's ever played with this season so that should be
exciting to watch. I believe points/rebounds wise he still has at least 2 more good years before he dips by a lot (Playing alongside Noah/Taj will cut his numbers but don't mistake that for decline). His defense is still great too, a Pau/Noah defense is going to best the East.

Very worried about Rose though, who isn't? If he gets injured again this season, it's pretty much over right? I mean, from what we've seen these past few years, does anyone believe he could come back after 3 injuries?

Here's to hoping even if he's not the completely same player, he could stay healthy and play out his career with the same leadership. He'd still be a top PG, hopefully.

34 is old for a guy who relies on athleticism.

Gasol has a skill set that can carry through to his late 30's like Duncan.

Not sure how far we'd go without Rose, but I'd say we would be still very hard to beat.

Aaaron brooks will likely come in and play a nate robinson or dj augustin role very admirably. We added Gasol and some very key role players on the team too.

Agreed. He was putting up similar numbers like Noah towards the end of the season with L.A. and that was after struggling with bad coaching/bad team. Playing with someone like Noah may even lengthen his career. He's definitely one of the smarter players in the league, yes he may be soft most of the times but with Kobe he won 2 rings and now he's going to be playing with fiery Noah so, this could be very good for Chicago. Noah will get Pau to play hard and/or have his back.

Ok, since you haven't responded and I assume that was sarcasm, here's what I really think.

You have clearly been a arrogant d.ck on here, Zen has called you out on arrogance before in another thread.

Who do you think you are? Why are your opinions any better than someone else's? I can understand if I was posting a troll thread or something completely irrelevant, but I was posting an opinion related to basketball which this site relies on from its posters to run a business(I don't mean mine in particular, just in general).

Did I rag on you when you were posting threads about your youtube videos?

No, I actually supported them and gave you props.

I used to get accused of not posting enough about the Bulls. I took that criticism on board and as soon as i do, I get either trolls or someone like yourself having a sarcastic remark in every thread.

Cmon man, you might think your a big hotshot on here with your rep bar, and you might think your all that with your Youtube videos, but you're not the quality of poster of a guy like RBA who you wish you could be.

Fairs fair. You call me out, I'll do the same back.

The main forum has 159,782 threads and the Kings forum has 739 threads. If you add those both together you have 160,521 threads. I don't think there is any possible way to go to over one million Kings threads when that maybe threads don't even exist on the forum in total.

What are you asking me?

I wanted to note that Rose historically hasn't played that well in FIBA, something to do with style of play not conducive to his game.

I know a lot of people won't give him 30 games into the season to assess him(already doing it now), but I think between 30 games and the all-star break you should start to see him come good.

His whole game isn't near where it should be just yet and I do factor in 2 years out of the game...

If he were to play incredible even before the All-Star break, i would be blown away and super excited just like everyone would, but i just think we shouldn't get our hopes up because like i said, one more injury and he calls it a career for sure. (I may be just expecting the worst as i see majority of people not bringing up a third injury. Perhaps i'm thinking too negatively?)

So we can see here now that this is a Meticode thread. Ok, so you say to yourself "Well why is this the Meticode thread?". Well mainly because it has been hijacked by his classy attitude and positive messages. Now we know that when there is a forum, and a poster who adds so much to the community, it's just going to be natural to put them on top ok. Mainly because that's just what we like to do. But now watch right here, you can see how Poido is making a thread about Derrick Rose, while Meticode is totally in control. Now that's impressive. Come on now, you gotta appreciate what he does. He's taking over and keeping this thread alive all by himself. And that's the beauty of his game. The ability to perform under pressure, to stay consistent and never falter in heated situations.

Now here is something you just love to see. Posters getting involved and moving their ideas around, stepping up and showing that they belong. That's not something we are always accustomed to seeing, it's just great effort, great execution, and as you can see these guys are starting to feel comfortable posting together as a unit.
