I feel you could do better with this topic.

Its gonna be a dumb argument either way...but at least add a little more to go with.

Why on earth would Kobe win in 03? If you add up their raw stats, Kobe's were like 1.1 points better than Duncan's. Difference is, Duncan shot better, played better defender, had much better advanced stats, and he lead his team to the better record.

When Kobe went 5-10 without Shaq, any thoughts that he could be the MVP were over. :facepalm

magic and bird with three mvps apiece just missed the cut and round out the top 7. it only becomes wonky when Nash Is brought up and if his 06 mvp Is assigned to Bean like it should have been then it comes back into alignment

2008-2009: 66-16

Cavaliers were trash, stop lying.

ECF:

Mo Williams, LeBron's sidekick:
games 1-4: 23-71 32% shooting.... Mo Williams, the entire series: 36-97 37% shooting.

Now this is LeBron's "sidekick" as the Cavs so proudly told us when they got him. People who want to pull out the "it's LeBron's fault" card need a ****ing reality check. He didn't have any real help in Cleveland.
Having an awful coach doesn't help the matter.

Game 1: Mo Williams 6 for 19 shooting, Delonte West 4 for 13 shooting, the Bench 2 for 7 shooting.....
Game 2: Mo Williams 7 for 21 shooting, the rest of the supporting cast played OK in game 2.....
Game 3: Delonte West 5 for 11, Mo Williams 5 for 16, Big Z 3 for 10, the Bench 4 for 10, garbage....
Game 4: Delonte West 7-15, Mo Williams 5-15, garbage....
Game 5: supporting cast finally shows up, Cavs win.....
Game 6: over at halftime the team played so bad.
As you can see, the team left LeBron alone in virtually every game. Yet his heroics made EVERY game but game 6 go right down to the wire...

T-R-A-S-H...

So yes, this IS the first time LeBron's had a good team around him in CLE.

Kobe being robbed is old news, Shaq too, they didn't win em so that's the end of it. But this thread is ridiculous.

MVP criteria hasn't been consistent since Iverson won his. Some say it's about winning with the least help, yet Curry got it over Harden last year when he was playing a large chunk of the season winning without Dwight while The Warriors were healthy all throughout the regular season and playoffs more or less, can't remember if Bogut spent time out last season. Others say it's about stats yet Rose wasn't putting up vastly better numbers than Lebron, KD etc.

Durant won it the year before Curry based off stats he was putting up despite not being much to separate him from Lebron statistically.

All I'll say is if LBJ, Durant or Curry were doing what Kobe did in 06-08 scoring wise, they would've been MVP those years.

Not really. Criteria has been fairly consistent. Be on a top 3 or 4 team and put up nice stats. How has that changed?

Curry won 11 more games with his team over Harden, and put up fantastic individual stats himself. Easy choice.
Durant won 5 more games than Bron, and statistically was better.
Bron was an easy choice in 13. Won the most games and was incredible statistically.
Close race between Bron and Durant, but Bron gets the nod due to being slightly better statistically despite being near identical in terms of records.
Bulls are far and away the top team in the regular season and Rose puts up some nice stats. Easy choice, although Howard had a case.
Bron gets the double and was an easy choice. Best team, best stats, etc.
Kobe wins it while having the best record. CP3 only competitor. Close race, but Kobe has the top seed.
Nash and Dirk in a close race. Dirk wins with his team winning 67 games.
Pistons and Spurs don't have a standout candidate, so Nash gets it based on being the 2nd best team in the West.
Nash wins it based on the fact he completely changed his team from a 20 win one to a 60 win team, and getting the first seed.
Duncan is an easy choice for his two.
Shaq an easy one for 2000.

The only one that is weird is Iverson over Shaq in 2001. Shaq played more games and based on their records it should have gone to him. So yeah... One MVP was a little out of the norm, but it still went to the guy on the 2nd best team in the NBA...

Kobe was never robbed. In fact, if anything, you could make a better case he deserves no MVPs. Because CP3 was statistically better while having a damn near identical record with a worse roster.
