This experiment with Calathes backing up Conley has run it's course.
Calathes is an elite PG in the world, IMO. If given the opportunity, he will prove to be a top 10 starting PG. Calathes, at 6'6, has elite ball handling skills and elite defensive skills. Calathes cuts without the ball and finishes at a top tier level in the NBA. Calathes is an elite pick and roll player. Calathes, at his size, can contest shots most players can't contest on defense.
I know Conley is more proven, but Calathes is the truth.

Give me Conley's solid offense, but great defensive game.

Top tier ? He was a negative on offense last year. Didn't he also get suspended for a drug violation ?
Conley is older than Calathes by 2+ years. The only way Memphis moves Conley is because of money reasons.

This might surprise you, but Synergy has ranked Calathes as the NBA's third best defender this season, having allowed just 0.59 points per possession (PPP) to date. This includes the third-lowest PPP allowed in spot-up situations (0.61), the fourth-lowest in isolation plays (0.43), and the 11th lowest against pick-and-roll ball-handlers (0.58). That's shocking for a player not really regarded as a lockdown defender.
I don't judge you or anyone for being ignorant about the level of Calathes' defensive play.

They played for the same high school and Calathes, not Parsons, was the superstar. They both went to UF, where Calathes was THE best player on the team for the two years he was here.
Calathes left Gainesville inexplicably and only he knows why.

He shot 45.7% from the field and 31.1% from 3 as a rookie.
You're being a little dramatic, no?

Lake Howell! I got to watch Em in high school several times. I know calathas got some money playing in Greece. But in high school I always thought he was better than parsons
