The closest was the '05 Suns, who went 31-10 both home & away

Yes, the 96-97 Miami HEAT nicknamed the "Road Warriors" were 32-9 on the road and 29-12 at home.

I could have sworn this happened recently with some shitty team. Or maybe it almost happened recently.

2013-2014 wizards had an equal home and road record.

The Kings in 10-11 are the most recent team to do it, 11-30 at home, 13-28 on the road.

Also, the Celtics and 76ers did it in 09-10, so it's not really that rare.

The Hornets had a better road record in their last season at Charlotte. Fans had been disappointed by them relocating and weren't bothering to show up. Ironically, the Hornets once had one of the best sellout streaks.

Just solely speaking the NBA Finals, the Bulls in 1991-93 went 8-1 on the road and 4-4 at home.
