Why is it every time Lebron has to mentioned in a Kobe thread? Why are Kobe fans so insecure?:facepalm

I'm a Kobe fan myself, but I don't find the need to compare Kobe and Lebron all the time.

Naming Kobe as the 2nd best shooting guard of all time is disrespectful to Jerry West, Clyde Drexler, George Gervin and Manu Ginobili.

Don't get me started on top 10.:facepalm

Apparently, nobody else on the team really wanted to take the shots. That was strange, as Nick Van Exel had a history of taking and making clutch shots. He made those huge clutch shots in game 5 against the Spurs in 95', and had some other big shots in the regular season (the insane fadeaway game-winner at the Boston Garden).

I thought it had something to do with Van Exel's beef with Del Harris and Harris not wanting to play him or something like that, but Van Exel passed up on an open shot to go to Kobe.

Weird and uncharacteristic.

Eddie Jones must have been hurt.

That's the only logical explanation as to why Kobe was even on the court to begin with in a playoff game.

This. The fact that he took them showed a lot. That guy is fearless and it has carried him through an outstanding career so far. No coach is going to lay off Kobe just because they think he wont take the shot. Another reason why you saw Gasol and Artest get some key put backs with their defenders draped over Kobe trying to double.

A great Utah team did that to Kobe..

Utah swept them in 1998 WCF when the Lakers were as stacked as ever - the Lakers had 4 all-stars on their team (Shaq, Kobe, Eddie Jones, and Van Exel... to go along with Elden Campbell, Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, and Rick Fox).

That Utah team also beat a 56-win, Popovich, Duncan, and Robinson-led Spurs team in 5 games the series before in the WCSF.

So it's not surprising that a teenage Kobe wouldn't be ready against a championship-level team like Utah.. But he wasn't scared though and that's why the moment was significant.

Dont listen to these trolls

We all thought that was a fluke stretch of misses, little did we know that, that series was the start of a beautiful, illustrious career ridden with chokejobs (2000, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2013) etc

The 1st and 2nd shots are good shots. The 3rd shot is a bad shot and the 4th one is arguable. The only problem I have with the last shot is that you've already missed the previous 3 shots so he should have swung the ball to the open man in the corner......

As far as people hanging on this game like its the worst moment in NBA History I think is sad and pathetic actually and I'm nowhere near a Kobe fan.....Its not that big of a deal really......He's a rookie, nobody else seems to want to create anything and none of those shots were just "omg, what a bad shot, over 3 defenders". If anything he just made a mistake of continuing to attempt long jumpers instead of driving to the hoop.
