Sam Cossman and George Kourounis guided by volcanic pioneers Geoff Mackely and Brad Ambrose become among the first explorers to step foot inside the worlds most dangerous and inaccessible volcano, Marum Crater. More people have visited the moon than the firey bottom of this spectacular and deadly place.

seeing slow moving lava like in Hawaii is one thing, seeing it churn and crash like a tsunami on a beach is so much more awe inspiring

I studied geology last spring and the reason being is that volcano is extrusive. It will gush above the Earth's surface.

Hawaii consists of intrusive volcanoes, so the magma will gush below sea level. It cools as it is coming up.

Holy **** that shockwave. I had my headphones on and the gentlemen even warned them it was coming, but I was surprised it took so long and it startled me still.

fire tornado

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthvideo/7963274/Rare-fire-tornado-caught-on-film.html

A three month drought in the region has led to brush fires across Brazil, creating the conditions for the fire tornado.
Fire tornados, also known colloquially as fire devils, happen when a fire acquires a vertical rotating column of air. Some can be more than a half a mile tall and contain winds over 100 mph.
In 1923, Great Kanto earthquake in Japan, ignited a firestorm that raged through the city and produced a gigantic fire tornado that killed 38,000 in 15 minutes in the Hifukusho-Ato region of Tokyo.
