Stated another way, which years would you rather have Peak Barkley than LBJ?

2006 was an inflated statistical year. Or do you truly believe he took a step backwards the very next season in 2007?

From 2008 on LeBron has been better than peak CB34. That's primarily when James started playing much better defense, and his jumper was getting better. Everything prior to 2007 - 2008 and the answer is easily Chuck.

Why are you consistently throwing shade at 90s basketball?

Some of you guys are really underestimating Barkley, he was competing with prime Magic and Jordan for MVP's. Miami damn well might be 3 time champs with him:

Prime LeBron is much better defensively, but on offense Barkley has a slight edge. Below we can see the Sixers plus/minus statistics as compiled by Harvey Pollack.

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showpost.php?p=10512988&postcount=255

Barkley's 4 year average for Net ORtg from 1989-1992 is +11.5, while LeBron's 4 year average from 2009-2013 is +11.4.

A poster on another forum has calculated Barkley's RAPM adjusted to 2013-14 variance. His overall +/- from both 1989 & 1990 would rank #1, when he was neutral defensively (+0.1). He would still be top 5 in his 1991 & 1992 years as his defense slipped. But on offense only his +/- would almost certainly be number #1 for all four years.

I'm sure his 1993 numbers would look great as well if they were available, considering the team offense was +5.3 (with K.J. missing 33 games) and the team defense was -1.3, for a net rating of +6.6. In the 6 games Barkley missed in 1993, the Suns offense dropped to 103.1 (-4.9) and the defense also dropped to 107.3 (-0.7) for a net rating of -4.2.

Any pre-2010 version of Lebron, as I felt that 2010 was the first year he was a very good defender.
