Awesome. I'm always amazed by discoveries scientists make. I was a pretty great student throughout my school years and everyone who has ever gotten to know me has called me intelligent, but my knowledge ain't shit compared to these guys. I would've never even guessed DNA could last 126 years in any form.

Edit: Re-read what I posted. Sounds cocky. What I was really trying to convey is that I always feel amazed reading about ways scientists discover things. Their knowledge is awe-inspiring. I feel even with years of study and research I'd still struggle doing basic scientific work.

What? I imagined that after several decades old DNA becomes difficult to read/study, that maybe after a while it's broken down to a point where scientists can't study it too well. I had no idea there were methods to figure the shit out. :confusedshrug:
Besides, do you expect non-science buffs to know this? In the article it states the method to extract very old DNA samples without damaging them was only discovered 5 years ago. Seeing as the last Biology class I took was 8 years ago, I don't see how this is something surprising to you.
