I doubt he will average 26/5/5. he is 36 and coming off 2 major surgeries. lets be real
why not? monta has a career average of 20ppg. hell, i think he is gonna drop more than 20 a night with the cast around him

dude.. its kobe.. the guys had no legs under him for half a decade. hes been pullin 1st teams out his ass like theyre nothin
i never bet against kobe..
infact. i'l make an avy bet right now that kobe averages 26+ ppg
and guess what? i hope i lose the bet. cause only way kobe doesnt average 26+ is if the lakers are raping teams

alright, im in on this bet. bookmarked.
btw, i like kobe, and i hope he comes back strong but i just think 26ppg is really unlikely as it will take him some time to get rid of the rust.

Mavericks finna be a darkhorse, wildcard, underrated play-off team. people fail to understand how good the Mavs were when Chandler was in Dallas. A front court of Dirk, Chandler, and Parsons makes the Mavs just as good as their rival teams in the Southwest division.

all of a sudden hes some legend? LOL
kobe in a wheel chair is a top 10 player in the nba
healthy hes top 5
people act like kobe being slower will stop him from scoring. he's scored 80% of his points off mid range shooting since 2006

We've seen how rusty a prime Rose is after missing basically 2 years. Kobe is now 36 and his achilles injury was much worse than a torn acl. Kobe will average 22ppg max on shitty efficiency

Lolz at choosing the matchups.
Swaggy p sucks so Chandler over him the pg rotation of dallas is much better then broken down nash and eratic lin. We have to see if Kobe is even a shell of himself, basically Dirk and Monta over anything the lakers can dish out. The rest are just gravy.
Oh and my reaction to this thread.

Lol at B+ player. I kinda thinking now you made this comparison based on 2k ratings or something. Ellis isn't a superstar but playing next to dirk brought him playing back to the fringe all star caliber player that he still is. Next to a 36yo Kobe coming off two huge injuries, they probably won't be that far apart.

Just hoping the Lakers ain't bad enough to go into top 5 lottery so we can have your pick
Why does young get any rattings???
Definitely one of the worst starters in the league. The people who actually think he's good lose credibility.

How in the hell does Felton get the start over Nelson?
Why is Sacre, a center, being compared to a small forward? :oldlol:
Monta had a fluke year, he will be back to his chucking ways very soon. Ppl are overrating this Dallas squad too much. Dirk is old and everyone saw that vs Spurs. Parsons just cashed in he may slow down a bit. Chandler is done.
On the other hand the Lakers will surprise many this following season. With Kobe running the show no way they will be tanking. Lin was a steal , the dude can ball. Boozer still got some left in the tank. PLAYOFFS BABY
Ok i was joking. Dallas totally shits on us. I can only hope Kobe provides some entertaining , Lin and Boozer are just :facepalm :facepalm

Seriously, mate?
T.C may be limited offensively but he is very good defensive anchor and I'd take him over Hill.
Parsons is a better rebounder, passer and 3 point shooter than Young and can play as a stretch PF.
If Kobe is healthy, then I'd definitely give him the nod over Ellis.
Felton is a fat POS so Lin automatically wins
Dirk is a no-brainer.
Benches are about equal although I'd give the edge to the Lakers if Nash remains healthy.

All this plus and minus, > and < is very childish. Matter of fact is Dallas took the defending champs to 7 games with a much worse cast last year (added Parsons and Tyson). Dallas plays with a system that they believe in and each player is accountable for defence and running the offence. Lakers..Is just a one man show and a bunch of others trying to play for a bigger contract and prolong their careers as the one and only priority.
Except he wasn't a starter, even with Kobe out.
Still, he is a very good offensive player.
No he's clearly a bad offensive player as well. He brings no offensive capabilities other than being a streak shooter. Comparing him to Stephenson is a joke but not the biggest joke is the group of fans that Stan for one of the worst players in the league. Nick Young should not be mentioned as much as he is on here

I had access to watch Carlos Boozer play for free for the last 4 years. That ***** sucks.
U think Lin and 100 year old injury prone Kobe gonna help him on defend the perimeter?

dude, lakers will have the worst record in the West
kobe will get "injured" again to save a bit of his legacy
but i agree that the mavs are overrated, and IMO will struggle to make the playoffs

I bet that Kobe can't drive to the basket anymore. That means he is going to do some triple pump fake spin around pump fake chuck it up (and get blocked half the time because he doesn't have lift in his legs). Too many good athletic long SG/SFs these days like KD, Allen, Lebron, Leonard, Butler, Shumpert, Bradley, Beal, Ariza etc that will lock down Kobe to 7/22 nights. Every team just about has a good long athletic defender to throw at players like Kobe e.g. even bad teams like Bobcats (Stephenson/MKG), Hornets (Evans) have players which they can throw at Kobe and force him into fade away jumpers at 20feet.

Steve Nash is not greater than anyone at this point, not even the Gatorade boy. He very clearly said in his Grantland videos that he came back to play a few games so he wouldn't be medically retired and could keep his contract. He's very clearly in "keep gettin' dem checks" mode. :facepalm
He's only on the roster now because the Lakers would rather have his salary just come off the books after this (probably) mediocre season, rather than have to take a salary cap hit over the next three years.

Dallas are a much better team on paper. And Monta is currently better than Kobe right now.
Leroy Jetson
09-08-2014, 09:55 AM
As a Lakers fan why would you even want them to compete with Dallas? So they can be first round playoff fodder? Kobe is in his twilight years, Lin is not going to suddenly be a top PG. Lakers need to be in tanking mode collecting high draft picks and clearing space for a superstar signing down the road.

09-08-2014, 09:57 AM
Even if I agreed with all the player to player assumptions, which I'm not even close on (Chandler is just a much better player than Swaggy), the Mavs piece fit together way better, and there's the matter of the coaching, which the Mavs have a top 5 guy by all accounts, and I probably like him better than that.
And on top of that, not all <>= are created equal. Lin>Felton. True? Maybe ... maybe not? But more importantly ... who gives a shit. It doesn't move the needle in either direction.
