Bird, Larry - no brainer
Cheeks, Maurice - good overall career, not worth it by my standards
Dantley, Adrian - no PO success, not worth the HOF
Davis, Walter - no PO success, not worth the HOF
English, Alex - no PO success, but makes it due to his influence on future generations and 8x all-star
Johnson, Dennis - great defensive player. Any 3x champ, 1x fmvp makes it to the HOF by my standards.
Johnson, Marques - David Lee level, good player, just not worth to even be in the discussion
King, Bernard - makes it due to influence on future generations, some great scoring games, but mainly due to personal bias
Laimbeer - Champion, again, influence on future generations
McHale, Kevin - easy choice, gets mentioned every day in many forums and TV shows, great player, competitor, would play as long as at least one finger is moving.
Moncreif, Sidney - good overall career, but lacks PO success
Petrovic, Drazen - Not good enough as a player, incredibly one dimensional, doesn't have the longevity, obviously. Death made him twice as good as he really was
Sikma, Jack - role player numbers, but still an all-star, great all-around shooter, just not good enough as a player to be in the class of the best
Thomas, Isiah - easy choice
Worthy, James - any 20 ppg 3x champion, 1x finals mvp makes it to my HOF
Players still eligible after receiving multiple votes in the previous classes

After selecting everyone I thought worthy, I had more than 10. That being said, a lot of my selections are open to change due to arguments made by others.
Bird, Larry - Ever heard of Him?
Dantley, Adrian - Three-time scoring Champion; 6x all-star, 2x all-NBA; 27-6-4-1 over nine prime seasons; 1977 Rookie of the Year
English, Alex - Leading scorer for the decade of the 1980's; 8x all-star, 3x all-nba second team, 27-6-4-1 over nine prime seasons.
Johnson, Dennis - 3x NBA Champion, played in six NBA Finals. 5x all-star, 2x all-NBA, 9x all-defensive team; 16-4-5-1 over ten prime seasons. 1979 Finals MVP.
McHale, Kevin - Master of the post-up; Sixth Man turned all-NBA first team, 3x NBA Champion, 76x all-star, 6x all-defensive team (3 first). 20-8-2-1-2 over ten prime seasons.
Moncreif, Sidney - One of the top all-around guards to every play; 5x all-star 5x all-NBA, 5x all-defensive (4 1st team). Averaged 20-6-4-2 over six prime seasons.
Thomas, Isiah - Leader of 2x NBA Champion Pistons; 12x all-star, 5x all-NBA (three first team), 20-4-9-2 over eleven prime seasons. 1990 Finals MVP.
Players still eligible after receiving multiple votes in the previous classes
Bobby Jones
Lenny Wilkens
Sergi Belov
David Thompson
Neil Johnston
George McGinnis
Dan Issel
Bob Lanier
Dave Bing
George McGinnis (mentioned twice.. sneaky sneaky)
Gus Johnson
Edit: Considering dropping Johnston in favor of Worthy. Johnston has long been a sentimental vote, but he just doesn't seem to be gaining traction.

Belov getting some love! :applause: Let's make this the round we get him in. I mean, he was voted by FIBA as the greatest international basketball player ever in 1991. Leading scorer of the USSR team that famously knocked off the US in 72. Along with like 10+ championships, scoring titles and numerous other accolades. What more does the guy got to do to get a HOF bid?
Will put my votes in later after giving it some though. A ton of fringe candidates I need to think about.

While I had trouble whittling the list down to 10, I can envision a lot of others struggling to get 5 candidates in which they are confident. One of those "fringe" classes.
And as for Drazen, I'd vote him in as a pioneer, but not a player. Though :facepalm I just remembered I should check out his international career.

What is playoff success? Dantley was one game away from champagne. Moncrief went to 3 conference finals. Bucks loses were to eventual champs Celtics and 6ers. His teammate Marques Johnson was much better than David Lee. Sikma was no role player was better than Laimbeer.

Why is Cheeks chosen over Dantley, English, and Wilkins, to name a few?
All 3 players you mentioned are all good players in their own ways but I think Cheeks is much better in his game than the three. Even though he didn't score that much but his playmaking and mostly his defense is one of the best in his generation. Also he always step up his game during the playoffs.

Cheeks was on a level with Gus Johnson Norm Nixon Otis Birdsong. Micheal Ray Richardson at his best was better but we know how that story ended up.

Cheeks just strikes me as a Josh Smith type talent. Fringe all-star that is great in one facet (defense for both.. sort of) but quite replaceable.
He is by no means a bad player. I'm just not sure he's a perennial all-star level player, or transcendent, or HOF worthy.
Edit: My analogy may be slightly off, but the description stands.

Also voting for Sergi Belov, Bobby Jones, Gus Johnson again. So I have three spots remaining.
Cheeks - Tremendous defender, very good PG. Not sure if he's going to make it in this class. (warrants consideration)
Dantley - Monster post up scorer. Didn't anchor elite offenses. (improbable candidate)
Davis - Didn't play for very good offenses, too loaded a class to warrant consideration. (unlikely selection)
English - Put up big numbers, but those were very gimmicky Nuggets squads. (unlikely candidate)
Johnson - Great two-way player who thrived in a variety of roles. His teams got better on both ends when he arrived, and worse when he left. (warrants consideration)
Johnson - Very good player, was in the conversation for best forward in the game in the very early 80s. Too loaded a class though. (unlikely selection)
King - Elite scorer, didn't anchor elite offenses. (improbable selection)
Laimbeer - Very important part of those Pistons squads, but it's tough to consider him here. (unlikely scorer)
Moncrief - Maybe the GOAT perimeter defender, very nice offense too. Best player on some very, very good Bucks squads that were unfortunate to play in a loaded East. (warrants consideration)
Petrovic - Put up video game numbers in Europe with Cibona Zagreb and Real Madrid. Finally was coming into his own when tragedy struck, perhaps in the the GOAT shooter (warrants consideration).
Sikma - Some of his moves are still taught to young post players today. Not a great defender (though he was solid on that end from what I can tell, and a very good rebounder), and not a superstar scorer. (improbable selection)
Kinda tough, I have to cut out one of these guys. Gun to my head, I have to leave out Mo Cheeks (though if someone can convince me that he was better than DJ, I'll change my vote). So my last three picks are Dennis Johnson, Sidney Moncrief, Drazen Petrovic.

Deep class.
Bird, Larry - I guess I can squeeze him.
Cheeks, Maurice - Very, very good point guard.
Dantley, Adrian - Just missed the cut. Had post moves down low like McHale, only half a foot shorter
Davis, Walter - Very, very good shooting guard. Rolando Blackman might have been better.
English, Alex - Just missed the cut, the highest scoring player in the whole decade. More than Bird, Gervin, Jordan, Kareem, King, Dantley.
Johnson, Dennis - His brother was more athletic than him. But DJ was very athletic in his Seattle/Phoenix days. Very underrated player.
Johnson, Marques - 3rd best small forward first half of the 80s. Only behind his East Coast rivals Doc J and Larry Legend. Was considered better than AD and AE while they were all playing. Has been forgotten after retirement.
King, Bernard - Unstoppable force on the block/wing.
Laimbeer, Bill - Fight!
McHale, Kevin - I think people overrate him, but he's still a HOF talent.
Moncreif, Sidney - The Squid. Maybe the best perimeter defender of all time.
Petrovic, Drazen - His jump shot was money
Sikma, Jack - One of the most underrated centers of the 80s who peaked at 20/13.
Thomas, Isiah - He drafted T-Mac, that should get him in the Hall of Fame right there.
Worthy, James - I think he's criminally underrated.
Bobby Jones Great defender who never gets mentioned.
Lenny Wilkens Has more All-Star appearances (9) than Sam Jones (5), Gail Goodrich (5), Dave Bing (7), Walt Frazier (7), Earl Monroe (4), Nate Archibald (7), Pistol Pete (5) who all played in the same era. Only Greer (10), Oscar (12) and West (14.)
Sergi Belov
David Thompson Original prototype for modern day SGs
Neil Johnston Best center pre-Russell and post-Mikal
Dan Issel Tough as nails player. The first Laimbeer.
Bob Lanier Most consistent center in the 70s not named Kareem.
Dave Bing Underrated guard from the late 60s to mid 70s. One of the first little guards with hops to dunk.
George McGinnis Gotta keep him alive.
Gus Johnson Still pushing for your boy.

Have to agree with everyone who has already said this is a deep and difficult class with very few locks, but many borderline guys.
Even though Larry Bird would just be another guy if he wasn't white, I am going to vote for him on account of being white. Isiah is another lock for me, since he said that about Bird and was such a great GM and team president and because he is black and from Chicago.
Less obvious locks for me include Bird/Magic sidekicks Kevin McHale and James Worthy who I feel like I don't need to make much of a case for. Their legacies seem fairly understood. Finally, Dennis Johnson, jack of all trades, master of none is another lock for me. DJ was one of the four most important players (ranging everywhere from best to fourth best) on three Champions and six finals teams. When he wasn't on Championship contending teams, he was an all-NBA level performer still. This is basically Joe Dumars if he left the Pistons in 1995 and played the Ron Harper role for the Bulls (with better stats and all-NBA defense) from 96-98. Lock it up.
And now, the borderline guys...Here's the one's I'm considering:
George McGinnis
Lenny Wilkens
Bob Lanier
Dave Bing
Adrian Dantley
Alex English
Marques Johnson
Bernard King
Sidney Moncrief
Gus Johnson
Drazen Petrovic
Sergei Belov
How crap this is going to be tough.
I'm jumping on the Sergei Belov bandwagon. This is me following my own advice. I don't know enough about him to have a definitive opinion on way or the other, but if I trust what other more informed people here and elsewhere say, he should be in pretty clearly. My only concern is that maybe he fits better as a pioneer like Cooper, Lapchick and Tatum to name a few. He balked on them, so maybe we will on Belov too, but I'm throwing my hat in for the sneaky Russian.
We voted Daniels in so I think we need to consider George McGinnis very strongly, I'm voting for him. He was the Pacers best player after Daniels faded; during the 1973 season McGinnis averaged 28-13-3-2 as a 22 year old, easily the top player for the Pacers and an all-ABA selection. He was the playoff MVP leading the team in scoring with 24 a games (Daniels at 16 was next) and was second to Mel in rebounding, just behind. In 1975, at his absolute peak, McGinnis averaged 30 points, 16 rebounds 6.3 assists and nearly three steals winning the ABA MVP (shared with Doctor J) and taking the Pacers with only one rotation player left from the 1973 team to the Finals again. He's in.
I'm voting for Lenny Wilkens again too. 2nd in the 1968 MVP to Wilt, constantly overshadowed by fellow 1960 draft class guards West and Oscar. Eight all-star games, constantly among the assist leaders, excellent longevity. Took multiple expansion teams to respectability late in his career. This guy is a borderliner that should be in and I didn't always think that, but now am sure of it.
English, Dantley, Marques Johnson, Sid the Squid and King represent some of the best of the non-elite from the eighties. The guys who weren't Magic, Bird, Isiah or Nique, but weren't far behind. Of the group, I like English and King the best. English was very good for the longest and King was the closest to great at his peak. Moncrief brings the most to the table but had the shortest prime. Dantley has the best numbers, but was a tough guy to fit into a winning puzzle and as a result bounced around more than the ball once he got it on the block. Honestly I like Bing and Lanier as much or more than all of them.
I'm gonna abstain for now, but I will again use my final two votes strategically. I'll review the arguments made already and listen fro more if anyone wants to make them.
L.Kizzle

Bob Dandridge in, Bernard King out
Jack Sikma in, Patrick Ewing out.
Norm Nixon in, Dave Bing out
Nate Thurmond, Nique Wilkins, Pistol Pete, Reggie Miller, Steve Nash, David Thompson, Lenny Wilkens will be taken out.
Added will be Gus Williams, Jack Sikma, Danny Ainge, Horace Grant, Otis Thorpe, Maurice Cheeks, Andrew Toney, Charlie Scott, Rasheed Wallace, AC Green
I wouldn't want to have Ewing, Nash, Miller, Thompson, Wilkens, Bing in the HOF.
There's people who should make it due to the influence on future generations and marketability even up to this date like Nique, Pistol Pete.
You just have to be a champion to make it if you're not a shoe-selling machine.

Larry Bird - He played for the Celtics, right?
Dennis Johnson - Tremendous player. Fun watching him in his early days, extremely athletic and score first guard and later transforming into a heady, savvy pass first veteran PG for the 80's Champion Celtics. 3x NBA Champion, played in six NBA Finals. 5x all-star, 2x all-NBA, 9x all-defensive team; 16-4-5-1 over ten prime seasons. 1979 Finals MVP.
Kevin McHale - Any young big man wants to learn how to work in the post, put on tape of Kevin McHale. Tremendous footwork and moves around the basket. Great defender as well. Sixth Man turned all-NBA first team, 3x NBA Champion, 76x all-star, 6x all-defensive team (3 first). 20-8-2-1-2 over ten prime seasons.
Isiah Thomas- One of my favorite players to watch footage of and an easy choice. Leader of 2x NBA Champion Pistons; 12x all-star, 5x all-NBA (three first team), 20-4-9-2 over eleven prime seasons. 1990 Finals MVP.
James Worthy - Ultimate sidekick/third option. Very versatile offensive game and great in the post up. 3x NBA Champion; 7x all-star, 2x all-NBA. 20-6-3 over eight prime seasons; 1988 Finals MVP.
Bernard King - I love me some Bernard King. Unstoppable offensively at his peak, great turnaround, pull up stop and pop, could back you down, finish at the rack. Scoring Champion finished 2nd in 1984 MVP voting; 4x all-star, 4x all-NBA. 25-6-4-1 over ten prime seasons.
Alex English - Leading scorer for the decade of the 1980's; 8x all-star, 3x all-nba second team, 27-6-4-1 over nine prime seasons.
Adrian Dantley - Dantley and English are pretty much at the same level to me. One gets in, so does the other and their offensive output gets them in. Three-time scoring Champion; 6x all-star, 2x all-NBA; 27-6-4-1 over nine prime seasons; 1977 Rookie of the Year
Bobby Jones - Cut from the same cloth as Dave Debusschere. Defensive standout and sixth man extraordinaire for the 1983 Champion Sixers. 5x all-star, 11x all-defensive first team in first 11 seasons. 9 NBA, 2 ABA.
Sergei Belov - Best player, main scorer and main reason the USSR was able to beat USA and win the 1972 Gold Medal at the Olympics. 3x Bronze medal as big time impact player. 11x USSR league champion, 2x USSR Cup champion, 2x Euroleague champion. 2x World Cup champion 4x Eurobasket champion. Eurobasket MVP. Voted #1 on FIBA's top 50 player list made in 1991. Above names like Drazen Petrovic, Arvydas Sabonis, Toni Kukoc, Niko Galis & Oscar Schmidt.
