View Full Version : Do you guys think Wade stopped caring?
I remember this time last year, while everyone worked their asses of in the gym, Wade was at fashion shows and celebrity parties. There were some games last year where he played lazy, like he didn't care and wanted to be somewhere else.
This year, same thing. While others began their training, Wade's on his honey moon saying he's sad he missed some fashion shows. No basketball related topics whatsoever.
It just feels like he doesnt care anymore about getting better.

I feel like he had his opportunity to win, and maybe realizes that he doesnt have a shot anymore.

I think he lacks motivation. He's already a 3x NBA Champion. It sucks that Lebron had his most efficient finals peformance, and the heat still losses the series in 5 games.

I can't stand that whole attitude of "you shouldn't be at a party ever in your life, you have to be working out 24 hours a day!" Or "maybe if he didn't spend time doing that commercial and actually worked out, he would be better."

Lebron has noticed this as well, which is why he left. I remember Wade sitting out a game in Phoenix last season due to a "migraine." Right after that game the Heat flew into Oakland to play the Warriors, (a game he also sat out) and I heard via my local radio station that Wade was out partying till the wee hours of the morning. :facepalm

You can go to a party or a social function as a basketball player without it being "not caring", lol.
2-4 hours of training 6 times a week is enough.
Going to a party isn't going to cause your basketball skills to evaporate or something.

Yea, that wasn't the point at all. No one expects Nba players to stop partying, people expect them to train though. Most players started their routine weeks ago (even ****ing Carmelo, lol), im yet to hear anything about Wade.

I think it was more about him getting discouraged about the deterioration of his game last year than it was laziness.

He was missing some easy layups in the NBA finals
When people started doubting him, he thought he'd bounce back and show everyone who he is. Things didnt go his way though. Im really curious what he'll do next season but i dont have high hopes.
I would have never imagined 2-3 years ago that Wade will play second fiddle to Bosh.

I don't know how many of you all remember what Wade said in an interview after game 7 of the 2013 Finals, but he mentioned that his goal was to win three championships because that would place him in the company of several other greats. He kept telling the interviewer to refer to him as "Three". I wish I could find the actual interview.

Pretend friend?
He held back so Wade could try to get another FMVP. It was still Wade's team. Then we saw what happen after that off-season when Wade said it was LeBron's team now.
Wade played 49 reg. season games in 2012. He got to collect his money and get another ring in 2012 for resting for the playoffs, while James (and sometimes Bosh) carried the team.

2012 playoffs
Wade: 23, 5, 4 on 46%
Bosh: 14 & 8 on 49%, missed 9 starts due to injury
Bosh never carried Wade

I'm the first to admit that Wade seems to have lost his edge the last few seasons. The last time I really saw it was game 4 of the '13 finals. That was a focused, determined, angry, "get outta my way it's time to dominate" Wade. Hopefully he regains some of that fire this year.

Wade has to be about the only player in the NBA who could get away with shit like this. :facepalm The only media member who ever seems to hold Wade accountable for being lazy is Barkley. It was rarely Wade's decision to sit out games. On multiple occasions he stated that he felt good and wanted to play but was held out in adherence to the "maintenence program". This is well documented. Of course LeBron, Spo, etc.. were frustrated, as was Wade. That's why barring an actual injury I expect Wade to play in most of the games this year.

Can't do that wit 14 shots a game playing completely off ball because somebody else needs to shine all the time.
This year Wade will be "back" and a whole bunch of hyperbole will be spewed.
I think it is a physical issue more than it is a motivation issue. He doesn't move like the same player anymore

I love D Wades game, was disappointed he never worked on a consistent jumpshot which would keep him effective as he got older. Last summer I also wanted to see him work out more as people talked about him breaking down. I find it funny how once LeBron left he all the sudden was motivated to get a shape and play against him
Where was that fire in the off season when the Heat needed to 3 peat?

:biggums: Come on bruh, Wade IS the Miami Heat! If he really wanted to play he would play. I'm not even a Kobe fan, but do you think Kobe would allow anyone to tell him he had to sit out and rest, at age 32?! :facepalm
And it's not like the Heat didn't need him either. They lost 14 of their last 25 games heading into the playoffs. Other than D Rose, what kind of leader just sits on the bench and allows his team to struggle like that heading into the post season?
