View Full Version : Will Miami Heat retire Lebron's jersey?

They had two good years together, but now Lebron has shattered the hopes and dreams of Miami fans. Considering how much Lebron hurt the Heat during this summer, I dont think they will retire Lebron's jersey.

Of course. Better question: Whose jersey wouldn't the Heat retire?

They already have Jordan and Gretzky. Will they retire Duncan? Shaq? Kobe?

Michael Jordan did way more damage to the Heat and they retired his number :confusedshrug:

They definitely should. LeBron was there for 4 years and was a huge reason why they won 2 straight championships and went to 4 straight NBA Finals.

He also won 2 MVPs as a member of the team.

They would of retired Lebron's number if he didn't go to Miami.

They might not retired it officially, but refrain from letting anyone use it.

He was wearing 23 up until Miami, so that would be impossible. The thought is in the right place. Having Jordan's number retired is just an insult to your own organization. :biggums: You don't retire numbers of players who destroyed your team.

No question. He's the most decorated player in franchise history. 2 MVPs, 2 rings, 2 FMVPs.

If they retired Hardaway for his 5 seasons, they'll clearly retire LeBron for his 4 season.

He was going to change his number to #6 even if he didn't go to miami.

I don't think Jordan's number is technically retired, much like Marino's 13 (Mike Miller wore the number). The organization was just recognizing the GOAT basketball player and a Miami sports icon by hanging their jerseys. I think the only actual retired numbers are Mourning's 33 and Hardaway's 10.

yes. the miami heat retire guys who never even played for miami

its not exactly a losangeles lakers type criteria

the lakers never even retired bob mcadoos jersey. he's a hall of famer that won titles with the lakers too

but he only played 4 years with the team... not good enough under laker standards

but for the heat? no doubt

lebrons a shoe in.

i just hope riley doesnt all of a sudden get a love interest in bill russell and hang a celtic jersey up next to his half bull/wizard mockery

then the #6 wont be available

See my post earlier in this thread. The Heat were honoring Jordan and Marino. Their numbers aren't actually retired. Is it corny? Sure, but it's not the big deal that people make it out to be.

riley said during the retirement infront of 20,000 people "nobody will ever wear #23 again for the miami heat again"

and here it says it is officially retired

Hmm, I know 13 isn't retired but perhaps 23 actually is. Still though, people need to at least stop saying Marino's number is retired. Someone earlier in this thread said Wayne Greztky too :oldlol:

Hmmm let's see what he achieved as a member of the Heat

4 straight finals
2 rings
2 finals MVP
2 regular season MVPs
broke the team record in points

safe bet that they do retire his jersey
