If she attacked him first, I would be all for him hitting her back. i worked in a court that did that. If they subpoenaed a woman to appear a trial to testify against her abuser for a DV case and she didn't show, they'd send cops out to pick her up, and give her one last chance to testify or they would charge them with obstruction or falsification.

usually in the situations like that the prosecutor should and usually will ask:

" Do you want to be here? "

" Isn't it true i am forcing you to be here?"

"If you had a choice, isn't it true you would NOT testify against so and so?"

I think what's happening is that so many people are fixated on the punch, they generalize the situation. Like the only thing she's supposed to feel is scared and that her reactions of getting passed this is based on fear.
For the record, yes, we all agree people should not impose themselves physically to someone much weaker, but that is not the issue. it's the aftermath and some people can't accept the fact that maybe the wife is actually telling the truth. Maybe she actually is passed it. Regardless whether it's someones sister, mom, female friend...she's made her decision. She alone only knows how she feel, all we can do is speculate
