he's a canadian military historian if you've never heard of him, though his 'expertise' of sorts covers more ground than just military strategy.
i can't recommend his insight highly enough. he is non-partisan and offers balanced takes on global affairs. he writes for a vancouver journal called The Straight. these are short and to the point articles.

lastly, a few years ago he produced a radio series called Climate Wars which is a multi-decade exploration into the future of the geopolitical nightmare climate change is almost sure to cause. the intel is sketchy and he makes that known but its nevertheless very interesting and worth looking into.
