View Full Version : The Ultimate ISH Top-10 Players of All Time Flopping GIF Collection. (ISH 2014 list)
CavaliersFTW

Earlier this year ISH voted:
1. Jordan
2. Kareem
3. Russell
4. Wilt
5. Duncan
6. Bird
7. Magic
8. Shaq
9. Kobe
10. Hakeem
If we took ALL those ISH voted top-10 players who ever played, combined their collection of flops caught on film, might it still actually be less than the 40+ times Lebron has been caught and gif'd for his flopping? I think it might. Let's make this thread the official "GOAT flop" thread. It can be pitted against Lebron's 40+ gif flop thread. Should be easy to find flops since there is 10 times as many players with at least 5 times as many games and "haters" in existence to comb through to find flops. Please do not post Lebron flops or any other player flops outside of this top 10 list in this thread, ONLY post flops from any of the players mentioned in the top 10.

For every 2 flops each of these guys might have, Lebron has 5
LeBron was voted 10th.
I'll get you the footage of Wilt flopping when you get us the footage of his 100 point game and mountain lion fight.

LeBron flopping doesn't change the fact that he's on the short list of the best players ever.
Weren't some of these guys accused of beig dirty players? How come that's okay but flopping isn't?

LeBron probably has more flops than the top 20 combined all together (minus LeBron).
Could be because the media is much more than advanced than before. Maybe all the instant replays, youtube videos, gifs, etc make LeBron seem more of a flopper than he really is? Could be because he started getting disrespected from the refs all of a sudden when he went to Miami that he needed to result to flopping to get calls.

Explain Kobe and Tim Duncan then... are they not still active players playing on great and/or recently great teams that also get a lot of spotlight and generate haters/media scrutiny?

True.
Won't dispute the fact that LeBron is a flopper. Just saying that I don't really recall LeBron being a flopper back in his Cleveland days, maybe there's a reason he started flopping when he got to Miami. Could be because he stopped getting calls from refs after forming the Big 3. He didn't flop as much last year though that's for sure.
Its possible with many, but impossible with some others, i mean it will be tough finding enough/as much footage as you would conceive in todays era, especially with guys like Wilt/Russell.... not even Wilts most prized game (100 point game) is avaliable, yet you think you are so blessed to find his flops? Even if you did it would be to pixelated to comprehend whats going on :P
Jordan i got covered though, big time... dont worry about that one... :)

Playing "dirty" is pretty much going out of your way to get something you want. But flopping is like getting what you want without really working for it.
Let's put it this way.
Playing dirty can be compared to using your friends as stepping stones to complete your goal, whether that's money/fame/whatever.
Flopping is more like accusing someone of raping you to get a quick buck out of them, without really working for it.
You tell me the difference :confusedshrug:

Very simple really... Duncan/Kobe didnt have that creative & obsessed haters... Lebron haters > Any haters in NBA history imo.... its butthurt people, people in denial, people envious of his success located in the most perfect decade considering the ways they can vent.... watching his success and their favorite players/teams they cant do anything else but hang on to that material and act like its bottlenecking his legacy or something, thats the only material they have, through gifs/videos they have made Lebron look:
*Like the GOAT travel player.
*Like the worst clutch player of all time.

It's not just Kobe fans who hate Lebron. I know that's the popular narrative with Lebron fans, but as shocking as it may sound, a lot of basketball fans don't like Lebron regardless of what team they support.

Bullshit. There is no ****ing way his popularity is even remotely close to what Wilt, Magic, Bird, Jordan, or even Shaq experienced.
Kobe had/has/will always have a LOT of haters though. He was perceived as a threat right out the gates to the legacy of Michael Jordan and Shaquille O'Neal. If he was flopping on a regular basis those fans would have shredded him for it.
Kobe's hate was different, he was just made fun of for his rape instance etc, some (like me) dont like his offensive mindset, but that is far as it goes... he was never percieved as a threat to Jordan enough to turn that fanbase insecure and cynical against him either, especially not right out of the gates (come on man?), not even after he won his 3rd sidekick championship and now with only 2 fmvps & 1 mvp....
But Lebron? Oh man....
Here we have a guy who first chewed of Kobe's superman cape, the best player in the world, he literally ripped the throne out of him hence bringing his entire fanbase into a riot against him, still to this very day.... and that fanbase is probably bigger than any in the NBA..... that is alot of people.... the last thing they want to see is him win his 3rd FMVP & 5th MVP the upcoming season and pass him on the Top 10 list.......
Now we have Durant, who is being annihilated by Lebron, a guy with also amazing fanbase, all riot against Lebron aswell.... Durant is popular to root on by all these fanbases, they would rather see him (or just anybody) simply just halt Lebron's upcoming accomplishments.....
Meanwhile, "The Decision" turned any other fanbase against him aswell.....
Meanwhile, his accolades..... Lebron at only 28 managed to achieve/accomplish more than Jordan did at that age........ so even the Jordan fanbase has a great reason to feel insecure & feel the need to slope him.... they see this 30 point triple double machine, arguably the most versatile player in NBA history on both ends of the floor (thats one thing to be insecure about if you are a stan of anybody, even Jordan) who is on pace or certainly has potential/chance to become GOAT...........
All these fanbases have gathered hands, a big kumbaya of hatred & circlejerking........ should they just sit there and bow down to Lebron? No, they should do anything in their power to slope him in some way, any way.........
To be honest, i dont remember if there was a player with so many haters as Lebron has around......
Bullshit. There is no ****ing way his popularity is even remotely close to what Wilt, Magic, Bird, Jordan, or even Shaq experienced.
are you serious right now? LeBron is up there with MJ and Kobe in terms of popularity world wide. A lot of that has to do with him playing in an era where social media existed and the NBA's popularity was much bigger worldwide.

But Wilt, Shaq, Bird and Magic are nowhere near as popular as LeBron is worldwide.
Michael Jordan is the biggest global icon in NBA history, next might just be Kobe/LeBron. Bird and Magic aren't anywhere as popular outside of North America.

How many perimeter players have averaged 30/6/6 during a championship run?
A select few..
But you want to discount Kobe doing it because of a teammate he had..? As if he couldn't do it without Shaq or something..
yet he did it years later in 3 consecutive post seasons and while winning 2 titles.. Kind of validates those numbers from earlier huh?

Its not a discount, not at all, but a measure/evaluation of the context of a championship run especially when compared to Jordan.....
For you, Kobe has 5 championship runs equal to any of Jordans 6 championship runs in context.... when infact he has only 2 such runs.....
You say that he is only "1 ring away from tying MJ".... but the reality is different for what he need (or more like, needed) to do to actually tie him....
There is a reason MJ is the GOAT..........

Lebron is not a threat to MJ.. He's never had a run as good as Jordans best.. and his worst runs are faaar worse than mjs worse runs. 2011 sealed Lebron's cap at top 3 is all time.. which is pretty damn great.. Kobe certainly saw as much hate coming up as Bron did though with all the sidekick talk.
I can't wait to see Kyrie to explode in a finals win FMVP and see what bran stans say.. probably something like what they said when wade tried to steal the glory in 2011.. and we all saw how that turned out. They certainly won't be calling him a sidekick lol

No, i dont think here..... its the facts that "think", the facts that clearly show he is a top 10 all-time player since the age of 28......... Who is 4 fmvps and 1 mvp away from MJ.... who has alot of time to get that and who has put himself in what i think is a great position to potentially get those things in Cleveland....
So its more like anybody who thinks Lebron doesnt have a chance to become GOAT is insane.......... Will it happen? We dont know, i dont know...... but the chance? Yep, its there.... Now, that you DONT WANT him to have that chance or end up there is another subject.........
Personally i dont think that will happen, but i dont deny the chance....

Whatever you say, tired of debating that, especially with somebody who is not so objective..... as far as Kyrie FMVP goes, there is a chance of that happening, its only 4-7 games, its possible for Love aswell..... however, the question is who was the best player? Will Kyrie/Love be the guy who led them there, the guy who was the best in the other 99% of the games........ the guy who was the best player in the NBA.......... i very much doubt it....
This would be like when Cedric Maxwell won the FMVP over Bird or James Worthy over Magic Johnson........ it happens, but its not simply about FMVP, its about who was the best player...... context my friend, ---->CONTEXT<----

Selling contact/generally exaggerating a charge is not a flop in my book. If there is any sort of hard contact a player has a right to sell it. Brent Barry boned us when he didn't exaggerate the contact against the Lakers in 08 (which was a foul).
This IS a flop:

Shaq was the best player during those 3 runs, its extremly factual, rational, logical, objective, you name it....... and thats the end of that.... Kobe was great, but as great as he was he had a greater player next to him....
You say
I am a hater....... that Kobe had stats comparable to Lebron or Jordan, therefore those championship runs are comparable to any of Jordan 6 championship runs........
Kobe only performed like a sidekick for his first ring.
Kobe only performed like a sidekick for his first ring.
Yea? And who was the better player in those other two?
Shaq would have been better than LeBron too man.
Shaq would have been better than LeBron too man.
Most likely! But as greater as he was than Kobe? Im not sure.... and there is a probability in which Lebron could have snatched one of those FMVPs and also one in which he surpasses Shaq as the better player a bit earlier than Kobe did... and ofcourse, the one in which Shaq probably doesnt leave and they end up winning more than 3?
That Shaq-Lebron duo is interesting, first of all considering that Lebron came into the league playing PG he just might have turned into a whole different player than he is now simply because Shaq allowed him to...... he just might had the Kareem which Magic had and didnt have to transition into such a scoring SF he is now.... i really do think Lebron would have been a fulltime PG.... would have loved to see that!
Anyways, ISH really needs a chat thingy or a Kobe-Lebron subforum something we have turned CavsFTW's thread into a chatroom lol....
Thanks for the talk dudes, ill respond tomorrow, i have to go now.
LeBron isn't significantly better than Kobe tbqh.

This is why no one here takes you seriously.
Also, I don't think you're a bad person, and you have every right to defend Lebron when people bash him, but a lot of the crap you post is delusional as fvck. Isn't it enough that Lebron right now is the best player in the NBA? Now you have to defend his flops by trying to knock Jordan down a peg and say Lebron could have been better than peak Shaq during the three peat?
Agree with que. Pauk you're a good guy but LeBron is hardly infallible. I'm a huge LBJ fan but he isn't the GOAT and he does flop like a fish.

1. There is NO chance Lebron could have perhaps averaged better stats than Shaq in a span of 4-7 games? How do you think Maxwell, Worthy, Parker and so on and so on snatched FMVPs?
2. What i am doing is because of Lebron and not because of actual basketball itself? Man the wishful thinking, my goodness.... I mean its you who said Jordan, Kobe never did a flop, am i not right? I am talking about flopping, nothing else, i said that anybody can look like a flopper.... you dont believe me and i will show you, this time with Jordan...... i couldnt care less about ***ing Lebron..... has nothing to do with Lebron, it has to do with Lebron ONLY FROM YOUR SIDE, NOT MINE..........
3. Because of the above the reality is more on the side where YOU are not taken seriously (especially not be me). If i show rational, logical, factual and objective assessments and YOU DONT AGREE? Then i dont give a damn what you or anybody here thinks about me, because its you who is arguing facts & actuality.... not me...
Delusion in your case is a projection....

Let's be clear here. There is a zero percent chance LeBron wins Finals MVP those three years with Shaq. Zero. Percent. No question.
Kobe didn't come close either. MJ probably wouldn't either, let alone any other wing.

If Lebron gets to the Finals.... dont you think there is a probability where Kyrie or Love has a chance to explode in 4-7 games? I do.... so oops "dont take me seriously".... oh mi oh my....
Its as little chance as James Worthy winning FMVP over Magic...
Its as little chance as Tony Parker winning FMVP over Duncan...
Its as little chance as Cedric Maxwell winning FMVP over Bird....
Its as little.........
You really think there is no probability? 1 chance in 1.000.000.000 not even?
You guys are driving me nuts.... :facepalm

Not all circumstances are the same.
Magic isn't close to Shaq at his peak, Duncan was at the end of his prime (and was robbed), and Bird hadn't entered his prime. I think Pierce was robbed too (EDIT: I meant to say, I think Pierce robbed KG).
You're not trying to put LeBron anywhere close to Shaq at his peak, right?
38-17-2-3 on 61%
33-16-5-3 on 57%
36-12-4-3 on 60%
I started watching in Shaq's rookie year, and the only guy in his zip code in that span is Hakeem. Let's be real here.

Show me where I've said this. I've admitted, over and over and over again, that Kobe and Jordan probably have flopped. As a Laker fan, I KNOW Kobe has "sold" contact on numerous occasions. Also, unlike you, in the thread that I actually created for Jordan, Magic and Kobe flops, I supplied gifs of flops. So really, I've contributed more tangible evidence to support your retarded argument than you have.
Once again, you're making shit up.

If i show rational, logical, factual and objective assessments
that's exactly the problem. You're not showing anything.
Everyone thinks you're bluffing. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment: do you really blame them?
I don't see the point in waiting until your compilation is perfect / complete. The issue is not how perfect your compilation is. It's whether you even have one to begin with. If you did, you would be able to show at least some of it, even two particularly awful flopping gifs. Your refusal to do so makes your claim suspicious. All of this is self-inflicted... it has nothing to do with anyone's stupidity, it is the direct, utterly predictable result of your own actions.
For the record, I do think many superstars throughout NBA history have occasionally flopped. And I do mean flopping, not just selling contact. But I also don't remember any of it being as blatantly obvious as the sort of flopping we're seeing nowadays from the likes of Chris Paul. (Unless you consider Divac to be a superstar, because boy did he flop) And since it's LeBron you're clearly worried about, I will add that he's far from the worst offender in that regard.

1. you are talking about lebron flopping...
2. i am talking about only flopping....
3. you say it is because of lebron, that i am defending lebron...
4. i say its because i am trying to correct you on what a flop is and what a flop is not, the target this time (and always is) only Lebron, oops? my fault?
5. you say Jordan or Kobe or Magic or whatever didnt flop, sure didnt flop like Lebron...
6. i say no, i say that anybody can look like a flopper because it has always been a part of the game and i have seen Jordan or Kobe or Magic flop aswell.......
7. you say prove it....
8. and i will........
That is what is going on, strict BASKTEBALL LOGIC vs LEBRON OBSESSED HATERS....... thats exactly what this is about....
Thats what it is always about with me here on ISH, logic/facts/ration vs BLINDED HATRED...... hatred which blinds your basketball judgments...... and my purpose here is always to very factually, rationally correct you, hence partypooping your hatred filled circejerk fests......... Lebron, just so happens to always be the target for you, surprise..... what you fail to realise is that if Kobe, Jordan, Kyrie, Shaq, Wilt, Wade, WHATEVER was the main target i would do the same exact "defending"........

OT - I saw your comment about my stance on LeBron's defense the past couple of years. I've been grouping them together generally as seasons during which he's coasted on that end during the season and picked up his defensive effort during the playoffs, but I'm going to try and do my due diligence and form a more concrete stance on both.
From RAPM (source: talkingpractice.com), since he became an impact player on that end, defensively he's been at:
09: +2.2
10: +2.4
11: +2.0
12: +1.9
13: +1.2
14: +0.3
Hovering around +2.0 or better is super impressive for a non-center. He was pretty close to that two years ago, but not so much last season.
Looking at Synergy (first number is # of plays, second is points per play; regular season + playoffs combined), as a 1-on-1 defender (my subscription only goes back to 09-10; they have data from 04-05 to the present but data is only available to teams):
2010
Isolation: 146, 0.60
Post-Up: 43, 0.86
Total: 189, 0.66
2011
Isolation: 189, 0.78
Post-Up: 55, 0.51
Total: 244, 0.72
2012
Isolation: 196, 0.69
Post-Up: 75, 0.92
Total: 271, 0.75
2013
Isolation: 159, 0.82
Post-Up: 50, 0.56
Total: 209, 0.76
2014
Isolation: 176, 0.86
Post-Up: 49, 0.82
Total: 225, 0.85
it seems that it was mostly just this past season. So there are three possibilities (since we need something to explain the dropoff in RAPM):
1) I'm mistaken, and his defense was fine during the 2013 season.
2) His defense during last year's playoffs was so good that it made up for the season.
3) It was mostly his team/help defense that fell off last year.
It's likely a combination of all three. :confusedshrug: But I will apologize for grouping 2013 and 2014 together. I don't think he was as good as he was from 09-12 that year, but he was definitely better than he was this season (when he didn't put in as much effort on that end).
