He looked really good in the tournament and now that Wade and Kobe are older I think hes the second best sg behind Harden.

I predict the finals will be Warriors vs Cleveland

You know what? It isn't even a bad question. It's actually a legitimate one depending on how Kobe or Wade plays next year.

And that's pretty sad.

NBA games are different than FIBA games. Thompson averages about 1.9 FTA's a game for his career. That's not going to get it done to be considered a Top 2 SG (he's not), you need to get to the line a lot outside of just being shooter and defender. That's something guys like Wade and Bryant were great at.

Klay's stats last season weren't all that great outside of his 3 point shooting either. I doubt there's much he will improve on with Curry around.

Damn, looks like a beast. As long as his defense is remotely good he's easily a top 5 SG.

Totally depends on Kobe and Wade coming back. If those two come back at 85% of what they were at their peak, they will be right there with Harden. Thompson could be number four after that. While Thompson is killing it in the two way sense, he isn't the passer that Kobe, Wade, or Harden is. He is a better defender than Harden though, but Harden is clearly an alpha dog level guy who can play three positions.

I think Thompson has potential alpha dog ability in the Reggie Miller, Glen Rice, and Dale Ellis mold. But he's a better defender than those guys so the sky is the limit in terms of what he can acheive in his peak years. But don't sleep on Bradley Beal in Washington though in the upcoming years. He reminds me of a young Mitch Richmond!

Also, for scale..

Melo/Durant/LeBron are offensive A's

Allen/Brow are defensive A's

:lol Yeah, it's possible since the top level talent at the position isn't great right now. To me he was a bit too inconsistent offensively last year even though he started playing better leading in to the playoffs. I'm expecting some improvements and a big year from him if the Warriors are gonna be a contender.

I expect Klay's usage rate and overall stats to increase under Kerr's new offense. Just imagine Curry, Klay, and Lee operating in a Spurs-like motion offense. :applause:

Good topic OP, Klay is definitely gonna be a top 3 SG.

I'd rather have him over Harden personally but I can obviously see why some people would put him as #1. Unlike Harden, Klay cannot carry an entire team on his back offensively, other than once in a while when he gets hot.

But luckily he plays next to Curry

1) Kobe (Assuming Health)
2) Wade (Assuming Health)
3) Harden
4) Thompson
5) J. Johnson

Really missing Brandon Roy right now. He'd be better than Harden, and true heir to Kobe / Wade's throne.

This times 100. I dont think hed be better than current harden though. It sucks that the top 5 is really dependant on longevity of the older stars. I wish Kobe and Wade a good year. Even as a nets fan on a consistency level JJ is not a top 5 shooting guar.

I think Roy given his career arch, and how good it was before injury he'd be better. Easily. He had a mid range game, something that allows you to deliver in the playoffs. Where Harden goes MIA when team's actually defend threes, and no easy layup / foul calls.

I definitely think Roy would've been better. Hell, look at that one performance in 2011 playoffs v.s. Dallas on no knees, when he was nagged with injuries the entire year. Better than anything Harden has ever done in the post season.

But JJ's best IMO is better than Kimbo Slice, Klay, and recent post 2013 Wade. His performance carrying Brooklyn offensively in this past seasons playoffs, against LeBron's man defense at times was more than enough proof of that as far as I'm concerned.

I have concerns about Lance Stephenson's mental game, and his stamina to be the guy like that for Charlotte. Iggy still is a defensive beast, but suspect offensively. The only other hopes in terms of young guys are Oladipo, and Waiters. But with LeBron / Kyrie and Love ... I don't see much room for growth given his playing style unless he goes elsewhere.

BTW if we classify Westbrook as a SG, which he is, he'd be number 1 on my list right now. He's not a true PG. Not a good decision maker.
