Seems like people would say Tmac had the better peak and Pierce had the better career out the two. If you had to pick a player to be your franchise player who you choosing?

T-Mac was way better. If I didn't know how injuries would ruin his career, no beaker to pick him over Pierce

Without the injuries? Tmac is better at almost every facet of basketball. Not that PP is lacking in anything either.

Peak wise, T-Mac is arguably the 3rd best SG of all time just behind MJ and Kobe. Pierce was of course a beast too and I think a better defender. But T-Mac at 6'9 was like a blend of George Gervin and Penny Hardaway in one at his best. And on top of it, had a very good at times great three ball! T-Mac totally redefined the SG position in my opinion!

Current Pierce is just as better on the defensive end, then any version of TMac

McGrady played defense when he wanted

I am exaggerating, but McGrady wasn't a good defender

Right?

MJ > TMac > Wade > Kobe peak

If I know what their injury history would be like... I would take Pierce for my franchise no doubt. Easy choice, 16 great years vs a few elite years.

I would take McGrady's peak and career.

T-Mac's absolute peak statistically rivals the best of Kobe, and Wade. Pierce can't make that claim. McGrady was definitely the better player, just as skilled, way more athletic. Pierce obviously had the better longevity, and career.

Pierce was Michael Finley before Allen and KG joined the squad.

TMac had the higher peak but its not as much higher as some claim. Pierce's career was considerably better.

Its funny how PP got overlooked his whole career but outlasted all his contemporaries. T-Mac, Vince, AI, all dead. Kobe was the last one and he's dead now too.

TMac was easily the better player.

Pierce was Michael Finley before Allen and KG joined the squad.

Pierce lead teams past round 1 and played at a high level for longer. Never averaged less than 25 points per 100 possesions (the last time TMac did it was 2007-08, and he failed to do it in his first 2 seasons). TMac had as much playoff success as James Harden, IF you discount Harden's year with the Thunder.

Don't fall for the b8, m8. He's a well-known Pierce hater...:D

P-Dub was never hurt and leading a team past the first round is not the end-all debate when comparing players to T-Mac, that's why I name dropped Finley. O course Pierce is better than Finley. Arenas and Baron Davis (who beat the Magic in the 2 Playoffs) have each made it to the 2nd round.

P-Dud before 2007 was still on his way to a HOF career had the big 3 never formed. It was just at the Alex English level, a high scoring wing player. He was probably below Vince Carter in 2007 before Allen and Garnett joined the Celtics.

Mac's skills were just top notch. Playoff success or not, not many players in league history had what he had.

And his career was nowhere near Pierce's. Did you hear about that guy Derrick Rose, he's had such a great career so far

Is Tony Parker's career better than Isiah Thomas'?

Pierce outplayed him head to head, had more Playoff success (both before, and after the KG trade), and better longevity due to his game not relying on athleticism/explosiveness nearly as much. Pierce gets the nod.
