Not denying that ... but he isn't a true PG, and not a true SG either.

Despite his faults a really good basketball player who can play the one and two.

He's a combo guard. There's nothing wrong with that. Fact is, he can dominate in ways no other PG can.

Curry is the only PG I'd take over him, only because he plays smarter, but still puts a ton of pressure on the defense. I think he'll be even better this year with Kerr's system. Then again, I'm a big Curry fanboy.

An exciting player who has improved his defense and now is the complete package.

Played awesome in the last playoffs. He adds so much to the NBA.

Love his passion.

Like most pg's in today's NBA, he is a shooting guard masquerading as pg. Has many low IQ plays but is exciting to watch.

A confidence loaded combo guard whose strengths are attacking the basket and defense. Useds his size and athleticism more than wit. Good rebounder. Not a great shooter, but can still make shots from midrange at a repectable rate. Doesn't always make the smart play, leading to an illadvised shot.

3rd best player ITL...

only player other than Jordan to get 40 points and 10 assists in a playoff game..... it was westbrooks 2nd playoff game that was superior to durant's best playoff game (the other one was his 43 points in 2012 Finals Game 4).

Proved most media and fans wrong by showing he was superior to harden..

Other than CP3, no other PG I'd unquestionably take over him. Top 5 player in the league IMO.

He is playing with a coach who runs zero plays and two complete black holes on offense and still gets 7 assists per game.

OP still dunno what a combo guard is...

yeah you can call him that, sure, but in what world is 7 assists per game with a coach who runs zero plays, no offense, and with two offensive black holes a bad thing?

I've said it once before and I'll say it again, bookmark it, mark my words, whatever....

If Morrow and Adams play a lot this year (probs not since Brooks is a retard), Westbrook will be floating around the 9 assists per game range.

The kid desperately needs a good coach. I knew he would be special when I saw how fearless he was even as a very young player just starting out in his career. Nonetheless brooks is not the type of coach that can teach him anything. He needs someone who can coach a disciplined offense like a sloan for example.

It's called being versatile, too bad people only see a few bad decisions by him every now and then which mostly stems from Russell having to make up plays on the run.

I can't tell you how many times Westbrook has ZIPPED a pass perfectly to Perkins, or how many times he has layed it off perfectly for Perkins after a double team, all just to have Perkins either

a. not catch the ball and cause a turnover
b. take three slow ass dribbles and then somehow lose the ball
c. go up for a shot and either miss or get blocked

And it's the same story with Sefolosha who will literally pumpfake twice while wide open on the perimeter....

people bring up durant to discredit russ all the time but it's retarded. durant and westbrook almost never run a 2 man game. usually durant just stands on the perimiter and waits for his turn. russ is always running into a clogged paint and usually has no bail out options and has to throw up a bad shot if thats all he has.

but in rose/westbrook debates I long had to hear "westbrook has durant! rose doesn't!"

when rose had:

a. a good coach
b. two bigs who were good at finishing around the rim
c. decent perimiter shooting and floor spacing

He needs a competent coach. Brooks is terrible and his prescence alone is hampering Westbrook's growth as a player. When I watch Westbrook I see a guy who still doesn't have a great understanding of the game. He's still extremely raw which is scary considering how good he already is.

Westbrook can do anything that's the thing. He goes on 2 week stretches averaging 12 assists a game just because he can.

He could tone down his scoring but the problem is, the role players he sets up will not be consistent when the defense bears down, especially come playoff time. Him and Durant are the only 2 consistent threats on offense in the playoffs. Ibaka and RJackson are good players, but their ceiling is not stardom, it's 3rd options on a contending team.

So yeah, he is not John Stockton. But he doesn't have the coach for that. I don't think he is capable of being a Stockton or Kidd or Nash, but he has very good vision. Anyone that thinks he can't pass hasn't watched him in a long time. Assist numbers can be statpadded. OKC needs more 3 and D guys, but all they have had are 3 OR D guys. Sef can't 3, Butler couldn't D.
