Has anyone been to an All-Star Game before? I've garnered some pretty underwhelming impressions from the few folks I've come across who had gone, particularly considering how much money one must put out for a seat.

Do you understand the concept of "supply and demand"?

There's over 20 million people in the NY Metro area, and it's an event that is in high demand with about 18,000 seats. To add to that, there are some very, very rich people in that area, that will want to go. $1500 is actually pretty cheap when you consider that rich people spend that on their coke for the weekend.

The Superbowl was here and it came off big time. They closed off Broadway and the city was a buzz. You could not but help to think Football when you left midtown that week. I knew the ASG was going to come in a few.

A regular date night at a game or to play/musical here will run $600 if you know what you are doing a get a bargain in there. And you don't want to buy too early because a player might get hurt. At the Barkley center its not much better.

Biggest difference is that NYC gets lit and a certain energy is everywhere. Manhattan is a pretty small island (you can walk across it in 45 mins) but the people are right on top of each other and the vibe is live.

I won tickets to the 2011 ASG in LA.

The Sunday tickets were worth about $800 each, plus we got tickets to the Friday and Saturday events, penthouse suite in a hotel, and flights. Oh and a backstage pass to an NBA after-party. Met Tim Duncan, Robert Horry, etc.

The whole trip was worth about $5k.
