Christian Laettner vs. Tom Gugliotta - Was a stud for a while. Had some off the bounce game. Laettner isn't as bad as he's remembered.

Stephon Marbury vs. Baron Davis - Marbury is another guy who wasn't as bad as recalled. And Davis probably wasn't as good as remembered. But I'd take the extra size.

Peja Stojacovic vs. Richard Hamilton - I'm not actually fond of the offenses focused so heavily on guys running like nuts the Rip did, or Reggie, or older Ray Allen. I'm always afraid when they don't work going to secondary action is harder. Peja's more subtle movement and the extra size I'd prefer.

Derek Harper vs. Scott Skiles - In the current league I may take Skiles, who's rediculous quickness and forward motion would make him really hard to guard, and some of Harper's advantages would be negated. But at the time, and on a playground, Harper would be a monster.

Xavier McDaniel vs. Anthony Mason - Mason was better with the ball, but needed the ball to be who he was, and was never quite good enough to deserve it as much as he gets it.

Damon Stoudemire vs. Mike Bibby - Arizona guys. Stoudamire was probably more creative. But Bibby could really space the floor better. Again, Stoudamire would probably be the better player today.

Nick Anderson vs. Jim Jackson - Two of my favorite somewhat obscure players. Anderson is probably more famous because of the missed free throws. Jackson never really got healthy enough to figure out how good he really was. I remember Jackson having a monster 30 games or so in New Jersey and thinking it was finally going to happen, and then he blew his ankle out and never really got it back together.

Wayman Tisdale vs. Armen Gilliam - Gilliam was a very good post player, but not a good defender. This is probably skewed by Barkley bad mouthing Gilliam when he was on the Sixers.

Sherman Douglas vs. Pooh Richardson - I'm a Celtic fan, and a Syracuse fan, so I have a soft spot for The General. Pooh may be more talented, but Sherm was the ideal back up PG. Respected, got everyone moving, and could force the action if he had to.

Ricky Pierce vs. Hersey Hawkins - The better ball handler, passer, and defender. And the shooting was close, even though Hersey had more range.


Once again, good pairings. Sherm and Harper to me are the two biggest gaps. And even they're close enough to make arguments either way.

Gugliotta was a pretty good player. I'd take him over Laettner. I hate Marbury and Davis when he really was into the game was excellent. Peja. Skiles was a very good PG, but Harper was better defensively. McDaniel had more of a complete game. Jim Jackson was a bust..let down. Anderson was a pretty good player and guy from what I heard. I will go with the Hammer, just a tougher player. Douglas was good. I liked him with the Heat. I chose Hawkins..both similar..but I was a Hawkins fan.
