The refs kept Spain in the game through 3 quarters with overly strict, soft foul calls crippling Team USA's pressuring, athletic perimeter defense that allowed us to blow Spain out by 30+ points the previous game. Wade played outstanding keeping us in the game.

Then the 4th quarter came around, and when it looked like a potential upset 2006 style all over again ... the team collectively looked lost, succumbing to doubt. Coach K said "Let the Mamba loose", and Kobe proceeded to bail them out in the pressure cooker, and he showed why he was the ace in the hole for these type of situations.

Organically the best player in the world, and most alpha revealed itself.

Kobe proceeded to make play after play, 13 points in the Final quarter culminating in a three pointer + foul, right in front of the rowdy Spain's crowd then he did this to add insult to injury:
