Let's say Player X puts up 13/16/4 with 4.5 blocked shots and 1.5 steals as the starting center, and the team's defensive rating is under 90 while winning 60+ games as a title contender.

Probably, yeah.

Most likely.

Would it even matter what his FG% was?

Are you talking about Wes Unseld??

Doesn't matter who <cough>Russell</cough> it is, just wondering if those numbers would win an MVP.

Nah..... KD is gonna average 33/9/5.5 on 54%

65 wins.

That stat line won't cut it, with KD on the verge of entering his prime.

Depends on everyone else's record/stats

Joakim Noah finished 4th in MVP shares last year. His averages were 12.6ppg, 1.5 bpg, 11.3 rpg, and 5.4 apg  for a 48-34 team.

So I would say yes to your question.

Joakim Noah was 4th in the MVP voting last year.

So, if all goes right I can see this Bill Russell guy winning it.

Durant is already in his prime and may have hit his statistical peak last season.

Sounds like Dikembe Mutombo.

LOL dude said KD is on the VERGE of entering his prime. Durant has been in his prime since what? Summer of 2010, start of 2011 season? Most players enter it by their 3rd or 4th season. I agree, given the circumstances with Westbrook being out ... 2014 might end up being his peak statistical year.

You only have to ask if people thought LeBron 'on the verge of entering his prime' after his MVP season in 09, where he put up 35-9-7 in the playoffs. Same age as Durant now. Highly doubt these trolls were saying that then.

Durant entered his prime a while back; it remains to be seen whether he has entered his peak though. I think it's a trend with most great players that they reach their statistical peak only a few seasons into their career when they hit their athletic peak, before slowing down after developing a more team-orientated approach to their style and honing their skills. In Durant's case, he dominated when Westbrook was out, and I'm not sure he will ever be able to replicate those sorts of statistics again. He can of course get better though, especially wrt his ball handling, passing and defense. I think he will settle around 28-30ppg, 7-8rpg, 4-5apg for the rest of his prime.

Walt Bellamy's peak was his rookie season, at least statistically speaking.

Skinny guys like KD last longer. He has improved every year, and I see no logic in declaring that he has entered his prime.

His prime may be from 27-38 for all we know....

KD's body isn't going to break down. He doesn't rely on athleticism in the first place, but he's gonna move like this till he's 40.

We're talking about Kevin Durant so you have to throw out previous athletes' careers.

But then again, you guys don't actually watch basketball, let alone have the ability to correctly analyze players.

The fact that Budadiiii continues trolling further validates his mental issues... Handling 3 accounts and perhaps more

"prime from 27-38" :oldlol:

He actually wants to believe the crap he tells himself

Those would absolutely be MVP stats today, especially on a 60 win team. He'd win the rebounding title and be the runaway DPOY. Plus it's not like those aren't competent offensive numbers when you factor in assists.

They were back then, they still would now. Especially knowing that he's an elite defensive player - oh, and not having an opposing C averaging around 30/16/4 with the same amount of blocked shots helps as well.

MVP is pretty much an offensive award nowadays (see: Nash, Dirk, Rose, etc). So I'd say no.

This is true, but we know that narrative is also a factor. If "player x" was viewed as the singular driving force behind being one of the best teams in the league, he might win over the media. I agree though that the lack of eye popping offensive numbers would be a disadvantage.

Those are great stats and if his team won 60 games, it's definitely MVP worthy.
