He just never liked basketball. Not surprised that he quit, when the easy money dried up.

He has physical talent but he's pretty old to be starting a pro fighting career.

this joke would've made a lot more sense if he was transitioning into a porn career and not kickboxing

Agreed.

He's gonna be busting careers like he busted the timberwolves.

Yea!
Beat me to it.

I don't know how serious is he going with this, but 29 years is probably too old if he doesn't have any prior experience. Too bad for his basketball potential, I think he's 10x times more talented than someone like Roy Hibbert, but oh well, at least he earned the money...

depends on how focused he is....

I f he loves to fight and really puts forth the effort....with 1 - 2 years of KB or MMA training ( depending on witch sport he decides to pursue) he might surprise people...

Imagine if Shaq or Herchel Walker got into MMA in their late 20's.....they might not beat the elite fighters...but they could do some damage.....

I know Darko is not the pure athlete's those guys were....but he is still a Big Guy with above average athleticism and 7 F ing ft tall...that's a huge advantage

They'd have provided some top-tier entertainment for sure... Shaq could have legit been elite with his body though.

He's not playing basketball since he left Celtics and that's like 2 years ago. Which is a shame sincr he's only 29 now...

Unfortunately you would have to deal with weight classes. For example the heaviest weight you can be in the UFC is 265 pounds. Darko should be alright but it would be very difficult to find someone to matchup with Shaq would be very difficult.

OT: I'm sure I read somewhere that Shaq did Ju-Jitsu? Isn't that why he did the whole teammate locker room wrestling thing? Stuff training with him, there's no way you would be able to move his body weight around.

While he looked awesome in boxing training in Boston, he likely won't be a good fighter because he never got his basketball reflexes right after he grew up with them. If he is very serious about kicking boxing I hope I am wrong. But he had great basketball combine numbers (greatest Dumars ever saw), his game suffered as he usually over thought plays, couldn't play well on instinct, and couldn't capitalize on his strengths. These are primary things you need to be successful in the ring.
