Stop it. They don't need to be any thinner.
Apparently, the new iPhones are bending. What did you expect? At some point, there has to be a breaking point where at a certain thinness they are going to be prone to bending.
Is there even a demand for phones to be thinner?

They will get thinner and add more useless features onging because there's shortage of idiots who will pay $$$ for the latest phone with the cool blinking lights.

I kinda get that actually.
As is probably common here on this basketball forum, I'm a big guy. I have big hands. I understand why some people might like a phone that is a little bigger than the standard size.

I'm a big guy, 6'0, can palm the basketball.
I use a phone that's screen is <5inchs just fine.
Smaller thinner phones are a fad currently. If everything wasn't a popularity contest, you'd see a wider variety of phones to accommodate everyone's needs and preferences. Everyone's just sheeping along right now with the fad, "my phone is way smaller than yours tehehe"
Hmmm..... I dunno about that.
I'm not sure I would ascribe the iphone's success to "popularity contest". Even if you prefer blackberry or android or something, Iphone will always have the advantage of seamless integration with other Apple products like computers, AppleTV, Itunes, app store, etc...

There's definitely a market there, where people buy the iPhone to integrate with the rest of their business.
However, I'd say the majority by a large margin is a popularity contest and people just getting the new phone to fit in.
You can't tell me 10M people needed a new phone all within the same week. You also can't tell me that this new iPhone has features that make it's predecessors obsolete. Now digest all that with the price tag being like $700. It is a popularity contest. And a lot of sheep.
I hear you. I think it's more of a "gotta have the latest model" mentality. Not necessarily just because it's the iphone. If it was blackberry that was so widely integrated with computers, TV, online store, etc... the same people would be buying every new blackberry model.
I actually remember back when blackberry was king and people laughed at the idea of apple thinking they could enter the market that blackberry had on lockdown. But Apple had that huge advantage of having a wide variety of other products to integrate with their phone.
If it wasn't for itunes, mac, appletv, would iphone be as successful? I don't know.

A lot of phones are getting more and more expensive as they add more and more useless features.
Just give me a phone that makes calls, texts, uses GPS and has internet accessibility, and I'll be good.
