So at one point Amare was at least equal to peak Dirk?

Well 2008 was one of Dirk's weaker seasons, Amare was at his peak, and the season before was We Believe (which led to most of the Dirk hate threads).

Honestly not that surprising, looking from the perspective of when that was posted.

lets not pretend its not even arguable, remember amare going to ny? he had a monster string of games, and even in phoenix, he was a top offnsive pf

Amare looked even more unstoppable than Dirk when he came to NY. It was a fair debate. Obviously, we look at that time with no perspective and it seems as a no-brainer thread.

lol 07-08 was one of Dirk's finest seasons. Amare was never even 70% the player Dirk is.

There was a point in time where STAT and Dirk were the best scoring PFs in the world. Yes even over Timmy and KG. I think all four were alpha dogs but Amare and Dirk it seemed put the foot on the gas to dominate scoring a bit more. In terms of Amare being better than Dirk, I think it was arguable at one point. I think it was a matter of taste. Do u want the ultimate stretch PF or do u want the ultimate freak athlete scoring machine PF!

Well, at that time (07-08) Amare put up 25 ppg, 9 rpg with 2 bpg on 59% and played 79 games.

In 04-05 playoffs he put up 30 ppg, 11 rpg, with 2 bpg on 54% and played 15 games.

Dirk put up (07-08) 24 ppg, 9 rpg on 48%. Then his team put up some stinkers against the Dubs and Hornets.

It definitely was arguable at that point.

And it wasn't just ISH...lot's of people thought. Amare finished 7th with MVP shares in 07-08 and Dirk at 11th.

If Amar'e was healthy and had a title, he'd be considered better than Dirk full stop.

Dirk is a gawd but if he had the knee troubles and Amare didn't then this thread would be reversed :confusedshrug:

Amare at his peak was a better player than Nowitzki...yeah I said it. Amare was utterly unstoppable inside, he averaged about 30ppg versus a in-his-prime Tim Duncan. He was a physical monster, just a brute that destroyed shit. The only guy I've seen more physically dominant than an in-his-prime Amare is Shaq. Nowitzki has had the better overall career and has been the better player but if Amare doesn't go through all his injury issues, this becomes a much closer discussion.
