LeBron James concedes it would've been much harder for him to return to the Cavaliers had the Miami Heat won a third consecutive championship in June, he told CNN's Unguarded with Rachel Nichols in an upcoming episode.
"It's a greater chance, for sure," James said. "It would be hard to leave back-to-back-to-back championships and try to go for four. But obviously you really can't live and think of what may have happened. I've always been a person kind of live in the moment."
The Heat lost to the Spurs in five games and James returned home, but only after a meeting with Cavs owner Dan Gilbert mended a relationship that was detonated the night James bolted the Cavs for Miami.
"It was a straightforward conversation. It was no beating around the bush," James told Nichols. "He basically said, 'No matter what decision you make, we wanted to clear the air to where if we see each other in public or we see each other wherever, if I'm competing against you, we can always shake each other's hands and look at the fun times that we had instead of focusing on the one night.'"
James went on a strict diet for 67 days, eating essentially just meat, fish, vegetables and fruit.
"I had the cookie monster chasing me a few times in my dreams," James joked.
The entire interview, which includes the racial scandal that has engulfed his former general manager Danny Ferry, airs at 10:30 p.m. on Friday. Watch a clip of the interview here.

Don't quote me on this, but there are rumors floating around that Kevin Love would have stayed on the Timberwolves if they had won the championship

Lebron was done carrying a team of lazy scrubs who got too comfortable with LeGod carrying them.

He realized it this year against the Spurs.

Lebron put up great stats while everyone else on the team played like scrubs.

In fact Lebron put up the best stats of any player in the Finals.

Wade-ites won't succumb to this because of his tenure with the Heat. It's Lebron, Wade, Zo, Tim/Glen/Shaq as the Heat's top 5 all time in my book, and to overlook 4 PRIME Lebron years as a Miami Heat is pretty ridiculous

insinuating Lebron hasn't been a "big game player"?

Lebron's 2011 vs Wade's 2012-13-14 Finals...hard to deny reality, huh

He said that there was a greater chance of staying, not that he probably would of stayed. The title is misleading

Circumstances change so your decision change. Wth this is not news. If Cleveland had won 7 peat back then would Lebron had left for Miami? Probably not.

no player in miami heat history has lead miami so deep into the playoffs that many years.
utter BS my ass, who does miami even have that played on the level he has and put on so many amazing performances during the playoffs. especially in elimination games and game 7's.

How about you look into Dwyane Wade's numbers and performances during the 2005 and 2006 Postseasons, dipshit.

I know you only followed the Heat post July 9th, 2010, but please refrain from talking out of your ass while discussing the Miami Heat.

Last time I checked, Dwyane Wade played a significant hand in those 4 years as well. Or do you have selective memory like the rest of the LeStans?

There's no doubt he would have stayed and tried for a 4-peat. Any player would have. You gotta take your shot at history.

Of course he would have. How could he possible justify leaving a 3-peat championship team to go to the team who just won the draft lottery? I would imagine that his odds of staying in Miami would have been significantly better if the Heat had simply lost in 6 or 7 to the Spurs instead of being humiliated.

How is that remotely comparable?

And anyone who thinks Wade was a better player than Miami LeBron is deluded.

rmt

It was not his sudden desire to return home to Cleveland but the realization that the Miami cast (specifically Wade who would not be leaving MIA but would take up significant cap space) was not good enough to win a title. Lebron made the best decision for him - team up with younger team mates who can carry him as he ages. The fact that this results in "goodwill" as far as his image is concerned is secondary.

He's also lost weight this summer - all for the purpose of extending his career and possible title-winning years.

Good point. Sent Bron back home, new version of a younger big 3 w/ games that fit his better. Wade, although broken down, can flex his muscles on his team again ... not taking back seats to anyone else, and with enough quality pieces around him to be competitive. Now the East is fair game between a few quality teams. Would love to see either Bulls v.s. Cavs, or Heat v.s. Cavs.

Based on what exactly? Nothing really changed beyond LeBron's uniform if the Cavs rack up titles like the Heat it will still be the same thing just in Cleveland not Miami

Its still the same lack of parity it always was.
