I love gift cards, so much better than actual gifts that often have very little utility to you. Another reason men are more logical than women. In my experience women tend to want you to buy the actual gift, I would prefer to buy my own gift. Honestly cash is the best gift.

I agree, and I think clothes are probably the worst gift you can possibly receive.

I actually got into a huge fight with my ex not too long ago about this... she was insanely upset that I told one of my best friends not to have his wife buy me clothes for my birthday. She said it was incredibly rude and that I just needed to receive a gift with gratefulness even if I didn't like it. I'd honestly rather have not gotten anything.

I often prefer money as a gift, but then I don't actually get something that I enjoy. I'll save it for gas, groceries, or rent. If I get a gift that I wouldn't buy on my own, I can enjoy it without stressing about how much I spent. For example, I couldn't bring myself to buy tickets to the Book of Mormon because of the price, but my gf brought me for my birthday and I enjoyed the heck out of it.

The one thing that is worse than getting clothes that don't fit, is getting clothes that fit and are completely not your style. Then you feel obligated to wear it around them at some point even though you hate it.

nice, but that really doesnt address the issue of getting a gift that his little or no utility to you. Eg. for me if I got tickets to a rap concert or a hockey game or an MLS game, etc.

I agree with you. Although certain situations I think require some effort. For example I wouldn't want a gift card from my wife for Christmas. But generally speaking I would always take the GC over a physical present

Best Buy will let you buy other GC with their GC. So you can get Amazon or Visa Cards.

Walmart GC can also be spent at Sam's Club

7-11 because it's easy to dispose.
