On right now.....Boardwalk Empire
B.E. is a shadow of the great show it use to be. Now its narrative is a ramble and while the quality is great, it still feels like hollow beauty.

The Wire stans tend to have shitty tastes in film and TV. Probably music too.

Sons of Anarchy

Impractical Jokers :D

But really, would rather rewatch Breakout Kings than most anything on right now and Breaking Bad, Walking Dead & The Wire are overrated to a ridic amount. Esp Breaking Bad.

s6 of the Soprano's was fvcking horseshit. I could give a fvck about Vito Spatafore's homo love for that fireman. S5 wasn't great either.

Yeah I'm from Germany so I don't know all the mechanics of american TV, but I heard that Cinemax has some sort of partnership with HBO or something.
Would have been nice if this aired on HBO.

It has 10 episodes btw.

Ah ten is even better. In that case I may start watching it sooner rather than later.

The reason The Knick went to Cinemax is because of how fast Sodenberg wanted to put the show together. Basically he filmed it like a long movie in quick bulk. HBO said that marketing and placement wise that's not how they do things. So they offered up their sister channel as an alternative.

Haven't seen the Knick, what's it about? Masters of Sex for me, and True Detective
I have only seen season one of Masters of Sex. It was way better than my expectation of it. Both lead actors are stellar including the actress that plays the Masters mom. They do a good job with the side storylines as well. At least in the first season they keep the sidelines to a necessary amount. Unlike Madmen and Boardwalk Empire lately that have let their supporting parts sprawl into an endless mess.

Haven't seen the Knick, what's it about? Masters of Sex for me, and True Detective

New York City, 1900: The Knickerbocker Hospital is home to groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff who push the boundaries of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics. The newly appointed leader of the surgery staff is the brilliant, arrogant renegade Dr. John Thackery, whose addiction to cocaine and opium is trumped only by his ambition for medical discovery and renown among his peers.

Into the all-white staff and patient hospital comes the equally gifted Harvard graduate Dr. Algernon Edwards, who must fight for respect while trying to navigate the racially charged city.

Trying to maintain its reputation for quality care while realizing a profit, the Knickerbocker makes an effort to attract wealthy clientele, while literally struggling to keep the lights on.

Even if the premise doesn't attract you, give the first episode a try and I'm sure you'll like it.
