Probably broke it in a domestic situation. I'm sure the details will be coming out soon.

Dammit. That's horrible news. I'm wishing him a speedy and successful recovery. I miss watching Rondo play when he was all healthy. He's one of my favorite players and points guards ever.

At least smart will get a few starting gigs.

Way to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

what if, by some sheer stroke of luck, his hand heals and he becomes a deadly shooter?
also, "slipped in the shower"? That just reeks of a cover up to save his trade value

There's some rumour that Rondo takes like 5 showers a day, he's just tempting fate.

Disappointing, but I'm excited to see Smart get a chance to start now.

So, this will be the fifth straight season where he misses a significant amount of games due to injury.
He can be really dominant at times, but would you really want your team to sign him to a max level deal ? An injury prone PG who can't shoot at all ?
I think his trade value is plummeting, just too risky at this point.

He's only going to miss the first couple weeks of the season at most.

That's true for now, but you have to be blind not to see a pattern here.

12-13 and 13-14 were the same injury, that's a bit unfair.
In the last 5 seasons, Chris Paul has missed 20, 12, 6, 2, and 37 games. Kyrie 15, 23, 11 in the only 3 season's in the league (and missed most of his only year at college). Parker 14, 16, 6, 4, 26. Bledsoe 39, 6, 42, 1. Westbrook was fine before last year but has had 3 knee injuries in 18 months or so.
He'll get a max offer, imo. But unless Smart busts big time, or we bring a superstar in through a trade... I don't want it to be from Boston.

Speedy recovery, but Rondo has glass bones or smth. I dont remember the last season he was healthy, non-stop injury fest.

He might get a max offer from somewhere, but just like you, I would not want it to be from my team.
In terms of trade value, he has one year left on his contract, and after that he is an un restricted free agent. So it only makes sense to trade for him, if you have already decided you want to give him a max deal, you know for sure he would stay, and you don't have the capspace to simply sign him as a free agent. I don't think there are many teams that fit all those criteria, and he's walking at the end of the season, so I think the Celtics will have to take whatever they can get, which might not be much.

It's not that I don't want him on my team - its that I don't want him on a max deal on this team, where he would be wasted (unless someone makes "the jump").
Teams I would be calling would be Indy, Houston, Minnesota, Dallas. Not that any of them have anything particularly enticing (aside from Dieng in Minny), but if we're going to move on, it should be sooner rather than later.
