Global media frenzy swirls around Cavs media day as LeBron James homecoming continues

CLEVELAND -

Most years, the Cleveland Cavaliers issue about 100 media credentials for media day.

But, this isn't any other year, it's the year LeBron James came home.

So the Cavs broke their own record on Friday by honoring more than 300 media requests from around the globe.

News crews showed up from all over the U.S., Canada, China, Japan, Germany and Brazil.

ESPN moved it's entire SportsCenter set and show inside Cleveland Clinic Courts in Independence.

Outside, a parking lot filled with TV trucks and when all parking was taken, shuttles were used to carry reporters from parking lots on Brecksville Road to the front door at Cleveland Clinic Courts.

Finally, James walked in wearing a Cavs jersey sat in a chair on the stage.

Since this wasn't fan fest, there was no cheering or clapping, but a lot of anticipation in the air.

Soon, the questions started coming and James answered, with hundreds of reporters watching his every move.

But, as James moved from interview to interview, it started to feel a bit more like business as usual. It will most likely remain that way until the Cavs' home opener in late October.

Lebron is a force of nature.

Bloomberg estimated he will generate ~$500 million for the city of Cleveland http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-07-14/lebron-james-s-return-to-bring-500-million-a-year-to-cleveland.html

Few individuals can generate close to that kind of economic impact by themselves.

Whether or not you like him there's no denying how huge his celebrity is.

Don't think he's as popular as Kobe is outside the US.

For all we know it could be one crew from each of those countries.

I mean they have to stay in Cleveland after all

Please take a moment to admire the great LeBron for the special talent he is. It never gets old looking at the King's history. So many accomplishments Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan will never achieve:

1.Only player in NBA history to quit because of Air Conditioner.
2.Quit on his team the year after he promises a championship.
3.Dunked on by a high school kid then confiscates the tape
4.Bail on the dunk contest 9 times.
5.Only able to win a ring with 2 superstars.
6.Play on same team as his moms boyfriend.
7.Average 1.8 pts in the 4th quarter of NBA finals.
8.Lose not 1, not 2, but 3 times in the Finals.
9.Host a national televised TV show to leave his team.
10.Go 2 for 18 in an NBA playoff game.
11.Get stuffed by a player under 6 feet. (Nate Robinson)
12.Flop every single game in the playoffs.
13.Choke 4 out of 5 finals games by dropping FG% by 18.
14.0 Rings if not for refs calling early fouls on Durant and Westbrook it threw them out of rhythm, made them play soft, and sit for big parts of the game which changed the flow and momentum of the finals.

And just imagine this loser's made more money, accomplished more in his field, and impacted the world more in 29 years than you would with 29 lifetimes
