View Full Version : Why is Isaiah Thomas not as hyped as Irving?

Been wondering this for a while now.

Thomas last season: 20/6/3 on 45/35/85.
Irving last season: 20/6/3 on 43/35/86.

Both aren't well known defenders and neither made the playoffs.
Following the logic of some people, if kyrie is a top PG and a mega star in this league, Thomas is too.

And if he is, he is only the 6th man on the suns. Does that mean they're stacked?

Note: This is not a troll post, just a genuine curiously of mine which is based off the thoughts of many who feel irving is elite. I meerly brought the comparison of him to another who has similarly accomplished the same. Please don't ban me.

1. Last year was the first time IT put up numbers like that. Kyrie has been producing at a high level since he entered the nba.

2. Height. IT is tiny, Kyrie will have a higher ceiling as a defender.

3. Potential.

IT had some great stats last year but I can't say I have watched him play much. I think ability wise Kyrie is rated much more highly, so his results are projected to be much better

so why are people claiming kyrie is a CURRENT top 5 PG? Its not about potential, irving seems highly favorited and overrated.

You're analysis of IT isn't fair. The dude is a great player who seemingly broke out this season. Why wouldn't you assume IT can sustain and likely even surpass his current plays. Hes only 25 after all.

Tonys not top 10. His team did just fine without him and he was constantly benched in 4th quarters of the playoffs for Patty Mills:roll:

Because one was the first overall pick, on a team whose fans think they can get DeAndre Jordan for shit. While, the other was on a team no one talked about.

Toss in the Head-2-Head as well:

Kyrie: 16 | 3 | 4.4 with 1.2 Steals/3Turnovers on 16.8 Shots/35.7%/31.6/73.7 in 35 minutes.
Isaiah: 15.8 | 3.4 | 7 with 1 Steal/1.6 Turnovers on 12 Shots/44.3%/24/73.1 in 33 minutes.

Thomas is also 3-2 all time.

lol @ Kemba
is this a joke? Lillard is light years above kyrie (no im not kidding). Lillard is always cool, calm collected and plays for the team at a winning rate. Kyrie hasn't reached that level. Lillard was highly significant in the blazers run.

You may lol @ kemba, but he too reached new levels and helped his team make the playoffs. Something Irving did not do.

Putting Dragić so high is a dead giveaway of who your alt is.

Bledsoe played at a high level for what 1/2 a season? I'm not sure it's fair to rank him over Kyrie for that. Kemba is nowhere close to Kyrie and the stats prove it.

Bleds was playing at a high level with the Clippers as well, which is why so many were pissed at the deal, would have preferred using him at the duece, but the money was going to be a big issue.

Still don't know why Olshey didn't push to get a 2nd or too.

no they weren't; not the entire playoffs. Parker was GREATLY important against dallas, blazers. They wouldn't get past dallas without parker.

Manu, Splitter and Timmy were all more important against Dallas. Splitters defense on Dirk was amazing and he rebounding great. Even went off scoring in a few games. Timmy played well on both ends. Manu orchestrated the show and had the keys every 4th quarter b/c Pop knows who the best offensive player on the team is

Better just delete your account now, you've made it abundantly clear you don't actually watch basketball....

In answer to OPS question, your right production wise they are close but Kyrie has supposedly more potential due to size and his game. Plus he was drafted high and has a well marketed public image. You can't just compare stats though, they played different roles on different teams and did things at different points in games.

The Spurs were 12-2 without Tony in the RS.
he got hurt and missed alot of time in some moments in the playoffs and Patty Mills went off. Watch the 4th quarters of the close games he was benched in most of them

Tony wasnt better than Kawhi, Manu or Timmy last year

Parker misses his first 10 shots in the closeout game of the finals...
