I'm excited about this new team we have. How far are we going this season? Regular season and playoffs?

Honestly we can win a championship this year. Fresh legged, rested, motivated Kobe. New role players, and a rookie thatll probably be better than Gasoft.

If you only want Lakers fans, post on the Lakers board.
Lotto this year for the Lakers most likely

35-45 wins (depending on health) and no playoffs. If everyone stays healthy most of the year, I could see them finishing with around 45 wins. But if Kobe doesn't stay healthy, or if he's nowhere near the player he was before the injuries, then 35ish wins is most likely.

7 or 8 and a first round exit.

Excited for the new season though for sure. :applause:

Who on this team is an above average player for their position outside of Kobe?
Don't have a clue but I think better than some of the naysayers are predicting... Im excited for it, not expecting anything earth shattering in the midst of a rebuild but should be fun to watch
Problem is with this team the two guys they need to be at their best all season are the two who are coming off significant injuries

Vegas(which has been the most accurate among all projections) has them winning 31.5 games. Good luck finding a gem in the lottery!

We don't have a 1st round pick for next year. Gave it up for Lin I believe.

Hopefully we can get rid of Lin's useless ass, Ronnie Price is getting the endorsement from Kobe, Nash & Clarkson would be good back ups..

No playoffs. :(
I think the only teams in the west that are actually worse than the Lakers are the Jazz, Wolves, and maybe the Kings (Utah/Minnesota due to being so young). Phoenix, Denver, and the Pelicans actually got better in the offseason. Lakers did too, but they're still not a playoff team. Barring a massive midseason trade - I don't see that changing.
It's going to be a bloodbath for that 8th spot again.

we got a 1st rd pick for taking Lin. The Lakers actual pick is with PHX and is top 5 protected. so LA would have to be worse than last season to have a chance to get it back

Ah that's right.
Not bad TBH, but I don't think we're going to bottom out. I expect Kobe to have a bit of a comeback season, and I think we're winning 35+ games.

So tank the whole season and let Kobe shoot 35 times a game?

From the standpoint of an objective fan, I have no idea how the Lakers fans could ever be excited over this over. Of course as a fan of the game you get excited for every new season but it is just not right to get excited over 40 yr old Nash, broken down Kobe getting $24m a year, Swagger P thinking of making the all star team etc.
It will be a first round stunner, followed by a second round sweep.

Man I am a low key Lakers fan. I love Kobe. However the West is just too competitive and I see the Lakers finishing around 45-37 and missing the playoffs. I hate counting Kobe and the Lakers out. But there is just too many blanks and "what-is" on the Lakers rosters and game plan. You have Nash and Kobe around 40-37 years old. A new coach, who I believe can get the Lakers back to the standards that we fans love, but not this year.

I really want to believe, but even making the playoffs as an 8 seed would be a huge victory in this stacked western conference.

This team needs a system to function on both ends of the floor. Lakers have very few playmakers, health and consistency will be an issue all year long. 33 games is a good estimate, everything after is all on Kobe, Nash, and guys like Randle and Lin. Scott has to make the team philosophy about rebounding and defense, or this team has no chance in hell.

I'm just hoping Dwight ruptures a disk and is out the whole year, giving the Lakers a decent draft pick next year.

Plase tell me you're joking. Lin (solid PG) is in a different stratosphere than Price (mega scrub)

if the lakers were smart they would just rebuild. they will be bad of course, but not bad enough to get a top 3 pick..if they even have any picks. they will try to be competitive but still suck. so they will miss the playoffs but not be bad enough to get a good draft pick.

they are not contending as long as kobe is still playing, he needs to retire.
and no, he can't coach, he'll ruin the franchise if he coaches.

Mah dude. The only chance they have of contending is with Kobe. He still has some gas left in the tank, I'm sure of it.

No shit. I for some reason thought it had less protection than the entire lottery. Let me re-phrase: I hope the Rockets just barely creep into the playoffs.

Sessions might have been quick, but he didn't use that to his advantage. the dude was too passive with the ball and didn't penetrate enough.

He still has some gas left in the tank, I'm sure of it.
It's nice to be hopeful but a few scrimmage clips where Kobe looks smooth and healthy is different than a 36 year old coming off an achilles tear, knee injuries on back to back games. People have too severe case of optimism during training camp. Let's see how he looks during the daily 82 game grind.

The pick belongs to Phoenix. Top 5 protection means they would have to tank Hard.
