Yeah because it's not even remotely close, right?

At their best, it's Wilkins. In 85/86, he was 2nd in MVP voting to peak Bird. Nobody else got first place votes outside of Bird and Wilkins. That's over guys like Magic, Kareem, Hakeem, Barkley, Isiah, and Moses.

It's certain that Wilkins was better. He could do everything. The only thing that Melo has over Nique is the 3 ball. Nothing else. Nique was a better finisher, guarded players like bird and jordan with great defense.

As players, it is a close comparison, I agree. They have similar career paths too.

better stats for nique in every key category and he had that historic playoff series with the Celtics, where he almost beat an all-time great team in game 7 to go to the Finals while playing like superman.
shows you how great that 1992 olympic team was because nique didn't make it but melo was a staple and team leader of his olympic teams.

Dominique wasn't on Dream Team because he snapped his Achilles.
As for who's better, they are both criminally underrated. Nique at his peak was a top player in the league.

I guess 2013 never happened.

GOAT wise of course Nique is the answer. But peak wise it's close as hell, but I think I would lean slightly Nique. These two are actually cut from the same cloth in many ways. They are two alpha dog SF's and also great rebounders for SF.
Nique had a very good midrange game, used the glass as good as any SF, and of course was EPIC in transition, scoring off the offensive glass, slashing, and on the block. Melo has a total scoring skillset on par with any player ever. He's great on the block, slashing, and midrange. Plus he's a very good three point shooter too.

I'm one of the few that don't think its particularly close. Sure, Carmelo is a better jumpshooter, but honestly, thats all he's better at. Nique was a terror in the post, spinning off his defender and finishing w/ either one of his patented mid-range shots, or ferocious rim rockers (anyone remember watching an open court episode where Nique said that he deliberately attacked the rim with the intention to strike fear into bigs? - possibly the greatest in-game dunk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FIDpHIJvX8) ever, this side of Vince's "dunk of death").

^if he isn't finishing in transition (unstoppable on the fastbreak), dude is working in the post, looking for better shots; checkout the opening minutes in the first link - everything looks so easy because dude had his fundamentals down.
What I really respected about Nique, though, was his perseverance. Not too many players, hell athletes have come back a year after an achilles tear and statistically put up their BEST season (his best year, numbers aside, was in '91). Insane.

Wilkins. He was better than Melo in all categories except outside shooting. He was definitely more entertaining to watch.

Nique was going head to head with guys like Larry Bird in the playoffs, Melo is going head to head with guys like Demar Derozan and not even making the playoffs....

Melo just 2 years ago was going head to head with LeBron James and the Big 3. Even went head to head with Kobe Bryant in 08 and 09.

I'll reply when Melo's career has ended, as it's an unfair comparison. But it's very close; Wilkins was nothing short of amazing.

This here.
Melo is a beast, but Nique was on a whole 'nother level.
Can you see Melo (or anyone not named Kobe) going toe-to-toe, shot-for-shot against the likes of prime Bird or MJ? Nique used to do that on a regular basis.

Couldn't quite get past the mighty Pacers led by the immortal Roy Hibbert in 2012, would have loved to see Melo actually go head to head with LeBron, (and get swept).
