I have been doing it a lot lately. I should probably stop watching Muhammad Ali videos...
I used to when I was younger. I do not anymore and I will not play with people who do. I think having respect for others extends through all aspects of life, and is not something to discard just because you are playing a sport. People who talk trash, I do not see them as being worth giving time in my life.

Yeah, most older guys I play with just tell me to "chill." I get you. It's a bad habit and it depends on people who I'm playing.

I'm not gonna talk trash to some random stranger but I do talk trash to people I'm cool with. Or if I feel the other person is disrespecting me then that's when I start going at him and talking to him.
I never talk about someone's game, I mostly just talk about how they can't guard me. lol @ joe doe. Quit being a pansy. Do you just randomly quit in the middle of a game because someone is talking trash? lmfao

not a lot but you gotta slip a comment in here and there when the situation calls for it... at least i have to lol
i was playin earlier tonight and these six cocky high school kids come in and they are pretty good. jesus christ they were fking annoying to play with. one dude shot the ball about 75% of our possessions. he was knocking some of em down but we were also losing. and he was getting murked on defense so at one point i just call his ass out and demand he switch with somebody else cuz hes not pullin his weight. funny thing was it wasnt really his fault, it was the 250 grizzley bear he was trying to defend. but he did swtich haha
and there were a few other trashy bits here and there but i dunno its easy to make quips and not have it taken too seriously. some guys just go way too far and blur the line between good fun and serious bidness.

Only when provoked. Especially with strangers. If I don't know you, don't talk shit to me unless you can handle it back. With friends, yeah I def talk shit but it's all in good fun. Sometimes in heated games, it gets serious but after the game I always let them know, leave it all on the court and hold no grudges.

I have to trash talk to get myself motivated to focus sometimes. I'll also start an argument with a teammate. Anything to get me focused. I don't talk loud, just loud enough for the guy to hear. I never want to embarrass anybody.

If people are around my age I'll talk shit all day long.
If they're like 15 years older than me than no, they wouldn't understand me

I typically do not, but I'll pull my own weight if things get particularly heated. It is very rare though and I am not boisterous. I am usually an actions-louder-than-words guy, unless I'm playing against my 18-year old brother lately. He's going through a phase where he's really trying to prove himself but he gets easily shook when spoken to. He's my brother, so I make a talking exception.

I never thought I did, but I've talked to people who said that I did. I did always talk a lot. I would talk to people during games all the time. I would complain about refs. I'd gripe about my coaches. I'd gripe about my teammates. I'd tell you if your teammate was an asshole. Or if he was good. I'd ask about your practices. I'd say your coach seemed like a dick. Whatever.
Some people seem to remember it as trash talk and others don't. And a lot of people thought it was funny. I still bump into people who talk to me about some thing or another I said to them during a game.
Depending on how someone may have responded to me, I suppose I could've devolved into something like traditional trash talk.
I did win my conference's sportsmanship award my senior year. So whatever I was saying it couldn't have been that bad. But I also always always offered to help people up, chased down balls, whatever. I just never stopped moving. Sometimes obnoxiously so to people.

I am from New York so it is pretty pervasive out here. I understand that many see it as a part of the game, and they do not consider it to be personal.

No I mostly just make jokes and have some friendly banter. I play to have fun these days so getting some heated trash talk is something that interests me.

Nope, not at all. I might say something if he fouls me hard or talks trash non stop to me or a teammate than yeah all say something back. I usually try to stay quiet and do my job the best of my ability.

It just depends,if the person Talkin trash is guarding a friend of mine and he having a bad day on both sides of the ball , if court is packed , if that guys girl is there then I'm going to guard him and talk shit.im not the one to initiate trash talk , I just shoot a wet one from deep and shut that up quick.
