Typical F1, suddenly a great shuffle happens up the grid.

Sebastian Vettel is leaving Red Bull at the end of the 2014 season to be replaced by Daniil Kvyat, with Ferrari his likely destination.

With Fernando Alonso set to leave Ferrari, Vettel was the team's preferred replacement and Red Bull has now confirmed that Vettel has decided to leave the team after winning the last four world championships.

"Sebastian Vettel has advised us that he will be leaving Infiniti Red Bull Racing at the end of the 2014 season," the statement read. "We want to warmly thank Sebastian for the incredible role he has played at Infiniti Red Bull Racing for the last six years.

"Since joining the team in 2009, Sebastian, together with Infiniti Red Bull Racing, has scored 38 wins, 44 poles and eight World Championships, including four Drivers' titles and four Constructors'. If you include Sebastian's success at Red Bull's second team, Scuderia Toro Rosso, the Red Bull total increases to 39 wins and 45 poles.

"As we wish Sebastian well in the next stage of his career, we also look to the future with excitement, as the vacancy makes way for the next generation of Red Bull racers.

"The Red Bull Junior Programme has developed some proven talents in recent times, including Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo, who has excelled in the RB10 and become a three-time Formula One race winner in his first season with the team.

"We're pleased to announce that Daniel will be joined in the team for 2015 by another rising star from the Junior Programme, Daniil Kvyat."

Alonso... not sure what he's doing the riff must be fairly significant to leave Ferrari for McLaren

Don't be surprised to see Newey joining Vettel in the future

dunno about vettel, his success was so much about having a car far above the rest.
this year he's being killed by ricciardo

in F1 its's always about having the best car, you cannot win consistently without being in a A level chassis with an A level engine... This is not unique to Vettel.

the thing is can you have the best car and win with it or not... History of F1 is littered with men who had top flight equipment and did nothing with it, he still drove the car to it's max and that's why it won not just because it was the best car
