View Full Version : Starting a Franchise: Stephen Curry or Russell Westbrook?

It's a tough choice because both are young, fantastic point guards. Steph is one of the best shooters we've ever seen. He's one of the best passing point guards too. Russell Westbrook is easily one the most physically imposing athletes the NBA has ever had. He defends well, passes good, he can score and all that. Both guys have their strengths and weaknesses. Obviously Steph's defense isn't really good and Russ makes bad decisions at times.

Now here comes the big question. You're starting a franchise and you have a choice to pick either Stephen Curry or Russell Westbrook. Be honest... who would you go with?

Russell Questbrook
Why Questbrook though?

Westbrooks true potential is hidden.

Once he gets a SG body (must bulk up to Dwyane Wade's size), he will easily average 30 ppg.

You say that like averaging 30 ppg is an easy thing. It's totally not. Honestly, I don't think Westbrook will ever average 30 ppg. I think 26-27 ppg is his peak.

Westbrook. He's a far better defender than Curry and his offensive potential is nearly off the charts.

This isn't a knock against Curry. The guy is an amazing shooter and right now, is a much smarter player than Westbrook. It's just that RW ceiling is much higher IMO.

I'd take Westbrook. Swap him over to SG full time and you've got yourself a D-Wade type centerpiece.

Some injury concerns because of the way he plays, but Steph has those as well with those glass ankles.

He's more aggressive, more heart and overall better player.

Westbrook for me, he still hasn't hit his true ceiling yet. I think he can average 26/27 points a season. Westbrook does most things better than Curry other than 3 point shooting and handles.

Westbrook because he can play elite on both sides of the ball

So with all of these "Westbrook -> SG" posts, which point guard would you have with him?

Oh and OT: With seeing how they've both turned out so far.. I'd take Westbrook.

Westbrook's defense, or Curry's more reliable mentality? You pick.

I always go with the guy with a better injury history and can still be a huge factor when his j is off. Russ West is a beast.
