Hey all,

I was wondering what mp3 players you'd recommend at the moment? Any new ones recently purchased? I haven't bought one since like the 2nd generation nano that got stolen.

Would like to stay under 250 bucks or so

thanks

I bought a Phillips MP3 player in 2011 at ~44 euros.

I am not that picky with tech and it does its job just fine.

If you just want convenience/small form factor, you can get a Sansa Clip Plus for about 25$, and then get a 16/32 gig SD card for cheap on Amazon.

Downloading the Rockbox software for it also makes it better.

If you are after sound quality, there are some other choices. Look up best portable players and "headfi" on google. You'll get a lot of opinions.

The Fiio X3 is good for sound quality alone, but it is more expensive. You could get a used X5 within your budget if you really are about sound quality.

You can just buy a cheap cell phone and use it as an mp3 player, for example :

Besides mp3, it can also be used as a web browser, GPS, and whatever that is available in the app store. You put it in airplane mode and turn on your wifi, you don't have to use any cell phone features/data, period. If you want more apps or a smaller phone, there's android phones that can do the same.

I have Sansa Clip from several years ago, it works fine just recently the headphones socket got disattached, had to open it up and soldier like 4 times until I got it right (for now).

My advice is to get the normal mp3 player with no touch screen, so you can work it while it's in your pocket. But if you want something new and fancy of course old player like Clip won't do.
