I'll be particularly keen to see McDermott play more minutes and see if the Bulls play better collectively as a team.

Mirotic had a solid first game. Hopefully he can continue that confidence :rockon:

You guys signed Meeks in the offseason.

I can see Van Gundy setting up a similar plan to the one he had with Orlando.

Dwight will be replaced with Drummond. With shooters like Meeks to spread the floor.

Yep, that's what everyone is expecting. Meeks added some dribble-drive to his game last season, too. I was pleased with the signing, even if slightly over-payed.

Smith is starting over Monroe, for tonight, anyway. I want to see him work down on the block, not out on the perimeter.

A lot of pass and screens, Rose looking to free himself off the ball.

I'd say its a preservation thing. Probably don't want rose breaking guys off the dribble all the time.

Would like to see more action on the Bulls offensive sets. Not one play required more than three players. Very little back cuts, cuts or third options. It really wasn't much more than spread out and post. I did see a couple of plays yesterday, but its got to be more to it than what is seen today.

I do not know who is still watching this game, but that Kirk Hinrich foul on Kyle Singler was poorly officiated, in my opinion. Kirk clearly went to extend for a block, Kyle moved the ball to a location where his head was in-between Kirk and the rock, so Kirk's arm inadvertently hit Singler in the head, and Kirk apologized immediately thereafter (with Kyle totally understanding).

A Flagrant 1 was called, reviewed, and upheld. It just seems not to be in the spirit of the rule whatsoever. It wasn't a reckless or dangerous play and most certainly not intentional. Obviously not a big deal, but I do not like the trend of such calls.

theres definitely a trend towards overly strict officiating which makes guys walk on eggshells on defense in a league already very much slanted in that direction. quick techs are a part of it, leniency on flopping is part of it, excessive flagrant calls are another, illegal/moving screens are allowed all the time but the guy trying to fight through constantly gets whistled, the signature wade "contact creation" either on a jumpshot after ball fake or driving the lane and just launching yourself into the big man, etc etc etc

its all very silly and very unfortunate
