I went to visit downtown Houston, figured must be something happening in the center of one of the nations largest cities. After 5 PM it was nothing but Me, My Wife and the bums. And they don't ask for a dollar, Houston bums ask for five dollars, unreal. Worst big city in America, Austin owns Houston.

In fact, one of my college buddies who's living in Phoenix just recently had his birthday at chili's. What a lame reason to say why you think Houston sucks. I honestly think the only reason why you hate it so much is because Harden plays there.

houston has a way better cultural scene in my opinion. They are both dirty, they are top 5 cities in size. Honestly though, I though dallas was one of the worst cities I had been to (in terms of accessibility, interesting people, etc.). and its not like I visited for a weekend. I lived halfway between these two cities for a decade.

Im sure many places in the world were "nicer" than Rome in its prime but that era...is the era of Rome.
England had its time. This is ours. History will look back on this as our era.
We are the greatest...even if not the "best" in measurable ways.
And Houston ive been told is just too massive to really even grasp. Ive been through downtown...I didnt see much. But it isnt a downtown kinda city.
Houston is like 4-5 busy areas spread miles apart.

More less what I was originally saying before someone told me to go live in Scandinavia and see. Finland has a population of 5 million people. NYC has more people just for the sake of comparison. Comparing the USA as a whole to most countries will make it look poor because of the diversity of the country. There are areas with very high standards of living and areas that are the exact opposite.
But what you said is true. USA is the only "great" country in the world atm. Maybe China can join the rank in the next 50 to 60 years but we'll see

Only thing to do out in Houston is the women. Even the club scene fell off in Houston. The nightlife in Houston was underrated as shit in the late 90s/early to mid 2000s, and the nightlife was what used to draw the biggest stars in Houston back in the day, but now even that has turned into shit.

I lived in Houston three years before moving back north to Indianapolis and I have to say, Houston was a fun place to live.
Always beach on weekends, pick up games every Saturday morning, back room poker every Friday night. I like Indianapolis more because its more, 'close knit, than a city the size of Housto, but Houston is pretty sweet.

As far as a place to visit, Dallas has jack shit to do. The Mavs and the Aquarium are about as good as it gets. There is 1 decent mall, North Park, and the majority of the DFW attractions aren't even in Dallas. Arlington is the place for fun with the family(Six Flags, Waterpark, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, etc) and FT Worth is the place for the bars.

Houston isn't like other cities...shit is just so spread out and unless you live in that neighborhood where shit is happening, it's not that great. There's just no community...don't know how to put it. The city I live in, I can walk to the dry cleaners, bars, dentist, grocery store, etc. and not feel like I'm going to get run over by shitty drivers or run into sketchy people.
Houston is the opposite of that but it's great they finally got uber rolling there as it's desperately needed in a city like Houston.
Dallas and Houston are a lot alike but I'd choose living in Houston. Too many 30k millionaire douche bags in Dallas.
But **** living in either of those places regardless...much better places to live out there. Houston and Dallas and a lot of America is just so basic.
Australia is great but the bubble is going to burst here at some point. Don't have a muslim problem...they really aren't even multicultural. 85% white and 14% asian and 1% pacific islander. Living here is better than living in America though...by far.

Merica.
Well yeah, California is a state with nearly 40 million people and Houston is a city with ~2 million people.
Because nobody lives IN the city...
Harris County, with about 4.3 million residents, remains the nation's third-largest county, and the Houston metro area, with 6.3 million residents, maintains its ranking as the fifth- largest, one place behind Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington.
And by the way, people are leaving California because of high taxes, and less job opportunities...
Thursday's report comes just days after a Federal Reserve Bank study found that Texas has led the nation in creating jobs since 2000 and that more than half of the new positions garnered salaries in the top half of the pay scale.
Fort Bend County was listed as the nation's ninth-fastest growing county, with a 4.2 percent population increase.
"Metro areas tend to grow no matter what their size, but the reason for job growth in Houston has three letters - O-I-L," Gilmer said, adding that in the past decade the Houston area has added about 420,000 jobs.
"That's how many jobs are in Tulsa, Okla.," he noted.
