who was the better playmaker, leader/floor general between these 2? scottie set up the bulls' offense and defense just like payton did, but who was more efficient in doing so?

setting up the defense, making sure guys are in position etc. because of his versatility and size, pippen defended a wider variety of more impactful players, so his value from a team standpoint was tremendous.

phil jackson also said pippen was the captain and leader of the bulls.

The amount of overrating and talk about Pippen in general on this board is ridiculous. Not this topic per se - Pippen was at least a bit better than Payton imo - but in general he gets talked about like 20x as much as player who were better than him like DRob, Karl Malone, Barkley, or even Ewing.

Not exactly surprising. Dude was instrumental in 6 chips, playing for, at the time, the most popular franchise in sports.

Pippen is like the 3-5th most talked about retired player on this board.
