These two teams seem to be the teams that will be close too the top of their conference, but people seem to waiver on their label as contenders( When compared to the Spurs, Thunder and Cavs)
So two questions:
1. Who has the better overall record this season?
2. Who has the deeper post season run?

My issue is even if D rose somehow becomes a 23ppg+ player with 7+ assists, there isn't enough offense. Jimmy Butler IMO is too inconsistent however he's had a history of giving LeBron headaches in their matchups. At max, 11-12ppg IMO. All the small forwards they have are pretty much 3 point shooters and Snell is probably the best defender of the bunch. Prediction, all together they will average 20ppg as a group. Taj Gibson and Pau Gasol are the truth and will probably combine for about 30-35ppg. Noah will be a defensive anchor with about 12ppg.
They need an explosive scorer off the bench like Nate Robinson again.

I feel like between Rose\Improved Noah(from last season)\Gasol in their starting lineup they have just enough fire power to the point where their defense can allow them to dominate the conference like in 2011.
Their bench is a question mark to me at this point though

I disagree, I feel you're overrating just how much offense they need to be a dominant team.
I'll tell you who I belive that
In 2014: 30th in the league in PPG: 28th in the league in Offensive rating (Without Ros

I think the Clippers will go deeper unless one of the rookies Chicago picked up can impact immediately. Chicago needs one more perimeter creator/scorer from being a lock for the title barring injury.

Man, that Spencer Hawes addition for the Clippers will probably pay dividends. If they would've picked up a better small forward too, I would've had them in the finals.

Chicago specially because they're on the east. I would say that being everyone healthy 55-60 W and worst case scenario a ECF exit.
Clippers will win a bunch of games in the RS but I don't think they will beat the Spurs or Thunder in the playoffs. And I would say that Mavs and Warriors have a chance against them.

As of now the only teams I see potentially making the conference finals in their conferences are Okc, San An, Lac in the West and Cle and Chi in the east. Thisis assuming there's no major injuries

Bulls better record
Clippers deeper playoff push
Clippers better team
Thibs burns and maximizes his talent out on meaningless games by late March. Takes advantage of everyone else coasting in a cap conference.

1. Bulls will have the better record, why? playing in the East
2. Bulls, this team has a good chance to reach the Finals, especially if Rose gets back to his old form. Nice bench and player additions.

better record is hard to say. i dont think the bulls will be aiming for best regular season record. but i can guarantee you an inch off my dick that the bulls will go deeper in the playoffs than the clippers.

This doesn't really work...getting out of the first round in the west is basically the equivalent of getting to the ecf in the east. :confusedshrug:

This. Almost any team in the west playoff picture has a chance to beat the clippers. Not cause they suck. But because the west is powerful. The east only really has bulls cavs and maybe (and thats a big maybe) heat.
Bulls will make the ecf as lng as they dnt bump into the cavs first

The question works because the op never made the assumption that the two teams were playing on equal ground

I don't understand that.... Especially because you said this before we heard of KD's Injury.

Because with Super Blake the Clippers are the better team regardless.

They are.. But Bulls are pretty much a lock for the ECF.
Clippers need to go through hell to make it there.
If it comes real bad, they might finish 3rd and Play OKC in Round 1... This is absolutely worst case Scenario for OKC, but realistic if KD misses 30 games and Thunder are around .500 in that span..

I agree the lack of a dominant wing player is going to hurt the Bulls come playoff time. Butler, McBuckets (as of now),Dunleavy and Mirotic are too unselfish and pass up obviously open shots. I think McDermott will change that once he gets his confidence on the court.

There are 3 truly elite teams in the West. Thunder, Spurs, Clippers. One of them has to bounce in the 2nd round. I can't see the Clippers getting past either this year.
On the other hand, there are no other really elite teams in the East outside of Cleveland and Chicago. Both are a lock for the ECF unless Washington gets stupid hot.
My answer? Chicago. Less competition.

Solid points. Do you think Okc is still capable of getting the second seed even with Durants injury?

As much as I'd love to see Westbrook go crazy like Durant did last January with Russ out...I don't see it happening. I'd love to see them get 1 or 2, but I'd say 3rd seed is the most realistic. As long as they stay above .500 until KD returns, they should be fine. I read somewhere he'll miss about 20 games...so maybe it's possible. If they don't make the Finals this year, you could easily make the argument for Durant bailing for Houston, Washington or Golden State.

I think it's harder for stars to bolt, knowing that their injury/performance was the biggest issue the year prior.
