What do you expect of Westbrook and the Thunder?

I think Westbrook can put up some dominant Numbers... But I don't think those will translate to a lot of W's... Or at least not for Top 5 in the West.

It will also make them more predictable offensively.

They rely so much on Durant at the Small Forward position that they don't even have a decent back-up. Westbrook is gonna look like 06 Kobe out there.

Westbrook FG% will be at sub 40% before Durant gets back.

Westbrook on Durant's Injury:

It's bad News for us, I mean, who's supposed to take all these extra shots now?

I really really hope Westbrook puts up better numbers than 11 Rose without Durant out there to calm down the Rose stans.

bbbbut Durant makes it easy!

I'd actually have them going 10-7 in that Stretch

Although they might lose @ Boston or vs Houston

'11 Rose is better than Westbrook. Better vision, better control of the offense (more control in general), and a better finisher.

11-7 would be a good start , 9-8 wouldn't be surprising.

14 Westbrook in the playoffs is better than Rose ever was. That's my opinion on the matter. Rose was only 22, though so it's not like he peaked and it's a shame what happened, but I think 25 year old Westbrook is a better player than 22 year old Rose was.

In pretty much 2 months, December 11, they Play at Home vs Cleveland...

That would be a sweet return game, although I think he wouldn't like that very much.

imo they don't beat denver at all, they are a tough match for OKC anyways (athletic, running, active bigs, deep team)

also they lose to either boston or the pistons due to fatigue on a long trip.
they also lose one up in salt lake city and both to the nets.

The rest is on point.

Nope. Perfect example of how Westbrook doesn't have the control needed to the best. He will wow you one moment and have you shake your head the next. This year will be his big chance now. Interesting to see what he does.

westbrook is a top 5-7 player IMO but his weakness is playing in control, he needs a cool head or another star player to share touches and temper his playstyle. His coach is dumb as fck so he can't control westbrook...... If westbrooks can ballhog like nuts it's only a matter of time till his bad habbits come knocking.
that's what people should be thinking about.

You might be right.

I think Westbrooke will go all in. He will gun like crazy because he wants to be MVP with Durant missing so many games. Could be either crazy good or crazy bad.

I anticipate Oklahoma City going 10–7 in their first 17 games without Kevin Durant and they likely would've been 12-5 or 13-4 with him, so his absence will likely cause them to lose three games or so in the standings. It is certainly possible that this injury stretches is a little bit beyond 17 games as well.

With how competitive the Western Conference is and how OKC was going to be battling San Antonio and Los Angeles Clippers for best record in the conference, this injury could certainly cost them several spots in the seedings and possibly cost them home court in the second round and conference finals.

Oklahoma City desperately needs some of their young players to step up like Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones, and also Steven Adams taking a significant step forward this season. It is possible that this injury could help them in the long run by forcing Scott Brooks to give significant playing time to some other young players to accelerate their growth as players.

It may be a blessing in disguise.

Durant gets less wear in season, potentially lamb or jones turns into a guy they can use.

They'll still get a top 4 seed.

maybe if it were to happen in march... but your offensive central point isn't going to play on a team that is just coming out of training camp, you can't expect everything to go perfect.

Imo they should be at .50 with that schedule. Besides the games against solid sides (clips, houston, memphis, brooklyn) you should not forget the b2bs, the long trip east and playing in some really tough arenas (rose garden, salt lake, denver) at the beginning of the season where enthusiasm is high and nobody started tanking.

agreed. westbrook should have a career year this season - and likely will given the ball wont stop with durant. his competitive nature doesn't have it in him to lead okc into mediocrity. dont forget, westbrook was arguably more vital to the thunder last postseason than durant, the league mvp. iirc, had a higher PER and more win shares.
