The rise of Kobe coincided with my love of basketball. After watching this preseason i truly know that Kobe is done. He has the footwork, skill etc, but doesnt have that quickness and hops to even get off a fadeaway consistently without it becoming a super difficult shot. He has absolutely no elevation.

I agree.

The unfortunate truth is that he does not have the same quickness and elevation that he had prior to his injury and that explosiveness is simply no longer there. Age, mileage and injuries have caught up with him.

So true. If he was making half what he was on now the lakers could actually try to compete in the next 2 years or at least trade him somewhere. He still has a lot to give I believe just not enough to run a team which he has to on such a large deal and with his ego.

Kobe is a savvy and crafty player. He'll have to adjust to playing more of an "old man game" but he has the skills to do it effectively.
