xbox 360 was killing the ps3 for awhile too, until the end of their cycles when ps3 finally started catching up. i think they ended up pretty even, but the 360 was ahead for much of the time. point being, it's only one year in. it's still early.

That was mainly because the PS3 launched a year later and was WAY more expensive than the Xbox 360.
Now both launched at the same time and the PS4 is/was 100$ cheaper.

Playstation is and will always be more popular than the Xbox outside of the US. and when both consoles launch at the same time and price it's not even a fair battle. Everywhere in the world the PS4 obliterates the Xbone in terms of sales. Even in the US it's sold more.
The Xbox One might catch up in the US but never in the rest of the world.

I live in Germany and don't know a single person with a One.

Yes and no. I want both to succeed but if they keep coming up with "next gen" that's behind the 8 ball then I want them to fail and someone to come up with something better. Agreed that we aren't necessarily getting our money's worth, but it would be worse if one console failed. If we only had 1 next gen system, it would have been $600+. But Apple has tons of competition and they still do this. X1 has obvious competition but they still didn't opt for the best tech.

The problem we run into then is that since both consoles have a large share of the market, which is usually a good thing, developers will hold back on the best because X1 for example apparently can't handle a game with humongous depth as well as great resolution. Devs don't want to make one version superior than the other and invite fury upon themselves so even those with PS4's get a game with lower resolution (see Assassin's Creed Unity).

I don't have a dog in that race, but at that point I would rather the X1 failed and some other console challenged the PS4.

Even with their handhelds. I came from competitive gaming on 360 and I switched to PS4. I can say I feel safe with this console knowing it's somewhat future proof and holds my childhood. It gives me peace of mind knowing their expanding competitively and marketing Microsoft genuine customers as in myself because Microsoft doesn't deserve another penny.

That shit they pulled on their customers and gamers around the world with forcing of the Kinect purchase and this agenda it requires it "or else" was lame. They even downgraded their controller which was a masterpiece. Who really cares which is selling more? Neither of them is struggling to move units. Just buy whichever one has the games and controller you like. Right now I have an Xbox one because it had more games this year that I liked compared to ps4. I know ps4 will eventually build up a library I like so I'll probably grab that when that happens. I also have a wii u but I got that because it was stupidly cheap in a close out sale on the old skylanders bundle, haven't played it in ages but I will when smash comes out.

I own an Xbox One and I really don't care about the popularity of either console. Good games come out on both systems. I prefer the Xbox controller so a game has to be really special for me to purchase a PS4. My brother owns one so even if that happens I'll just play the game on his when he's not using it.

I don't think the story is that interconnected that you have start from the beginning, except the main characters are usually the same between all the games so you end up creating a bit of affinity for them. I would say play Uncharted 2 and 3 anyway though. They're both awesome, awesome games.

Yeah, they did say that (both the PS4 and Xbone cpu). But they said a lot of things on this issue. They claim that uping the resolution and fps would affect the NCP behavior and make it worst due to the weak cpus. That statement is pretty weird since in terms of screen resolution is the gpu, not the cpu. Granted, the cpu could have something to do with the AI, but it shouldn't have anything to do with the screen res. Not having 60 fps because of the AI and the internal clock is pretty disappointing to hear. It could be because of the engine that they using. I dunno. We'll have to see if Rockstar could optimize a similar game (GTA, RDR, etc) to do better. We know MGS5 and the new Dragon Age are pushing the limits of the PS4 at this stage. MGS5 is going 60fps and 1080p on the PS4 and Dragon Age Inquistion's going for 1080p on 30 fps. Granted they are different types of games.

They also said that they prefer 30 fps over 60 fps because it feels more cinematic. One of the devs pointed at The Hobbit movie and used that as an example to show how weird it looked. They said that they did it to avoid debates with the consoles and stuff like that.

PCs shouldn't have this problem, but usually PC gamers get the worst end of the stick when it comes to AC games because they are poorly optimized.
