B. You need to learn about our system of government. The president doesn't sentence anybody.
C. 80% of that jail time is from one case, Chelsea Manning's. That case was also the largest ever leak of classified material, so it's no surprise the sentence was so severe.

You tell me why it's ok to extort minorities? Considering 'addiction' is now routinely classified as a mental illness, i'd like to know why you think it's ok to steal money from the mentally handicapped for the sake of their being handicapped?
Why so cruel? Why so inhumane? It cannot be justified, and i'm yet to see anyone justify logically it on any grounds other than the forced regulation of personal habits and behaviour, which is of course, unconstitutional. Sad you know so little about your country's history and the principles it was founded on.
While Obama is extorting his mentally handicapped citizens, using petty moral justifications for making a cheap buck, the same citizens are forced to contribute tax towards the subsidising of tobacco farmers! As usual the consumer gets it up the arse from both directions! It really is quite farcical.

skimming the list, these are all ppl who compromised national security.
i couldn't say what's right or wrong, or whether the outings were justified, but it seems to me you better be DAMN sure you know what you're doing when you do something like that no matter the nation or era in history.
most of the time across history, ppl like that tended to suddenly disappear.

Perhaps you could show us where exactly in the constitution it says that the government is not allowed to regulate habits and behavior.

Well, the 9th and 10th amendments would be a start.
'The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.'
The Constitutional protections are not limited to what is explicitly mentioned, which is the whole point of the 9th amendment: it is a 'presumption of liberty' (when restricting a right, the government has the burden of proving beyond all doubt that this infringement is necessary, otherwise it is not constitutional). Considering the spirit of the American experiment is captured in the Declaration, which founds the nation as a place where the citizenry can pursue 'life, liberty and happiness' without being fettered by the government, it is clear that the regulation of the personal life, of a man's life inside his home even, would be something utterly repugnant to the founders (or any sensible man, really). And in all the writings of the founders that i have read (which is a fair bit), there is not even a single implication that this kind of thing would be ok.
The desire to regulate all aspects of personal life had zero political backing all the way up until the emergence of the Populist and Progressive movements, which were imbued with a puritanical hatred of various things, and led at the same time to alcohol prohibition and the other drug prohibitions that our society still suffers from today.
