View Full Version : Any scenario where Marc Gasol isn't a Knick by the deadline or free agency?

KNICKS need a center, they'll have the cap space

He's a perfect fit for the triangle

Phil was able to make Marc's brother a champion

Why would he want to stay in that cheap franchise in Memphis. He could build a nice brand for himself in NY.

Who else will be contenders to sign him?

Cleveland better find themselves a center

Hardaway better learn to play defense or he's the sixth man... Him and Calderon would get smoked by guards in the NBA.. I want shumpert in there starting

I do like Millsap at the 4 though. Is he a free agent in 2015?

It's makes to much sense. Only an injury or Dolan can mess this up lol

Didn't he say he was committed to the Grizzlies?

Might be thinking of someone else. I hope not though. NY would waste his last good years.

He's got a great thing going in Memphis, and besides, doesn't his entire family (aside from Pau) live there?

Nothing a plane, uhaul, and condo in NYC can't solve

That team doesn't even want to pay their coaches. That's not a good thing going there

That would be a really cool triangle roster. You'd be able to put all three bigs on the strong side. All are good enough with the ball. And I liked the Calderon move anyway because he's a perfect Triangle weakside offensive player as a spacer.

I'd want the other wing to be a better defender, and that could maybe come from somewhere else. You'd hope Gasol could bind everything together on the defensive end, making everyone better than the sum of their parts, but he's not the cure all defensive presence you think of like a young Dwight that can cover up for people. His DPotY is more for running the show back there.

I think the plan would be to trade smith, give Gasol like 15-16 a year and give Millsap like 8-10 million. that'll work

Hardaway has all the potential to be a good defender. Hopefully he can put it all together

Yeah a good defender. Shumpert could be the lock-down defender he once was with more offense. I kind of wish we had Jimmy Butler and have him play the SG at 6'7'' with IMO a great chance to eventually become a 15ppg+ year in and year out.

Memphis is not a good situation for him, the grizz have peaked and wont win a ship as currently constructed. Z-bo is declining fast, Marc needs to wise up and come win a ship in NY

He's signing with the Celtics in FA. Cs have a better future than the Knicks with Rondo, Smart and Sullinger, and also need a center. Gasol would fit perfect.

with the upcomming cap changes I expect both gasol and millsap to be looking for more than you've listed. Players will be getting deals that are at the moment considered overpaid but will be cheaper once the new salaries come in.

Wtf. Anyone who has been one n this board long enough knows I am far from a troll.

Also I don't see gasoline leaving as he grew up in Memphis from high school on, I don't see a reason for him to leave. Him and Conley are a good foundation for Memphis.

This mindset that it's a sure thing a gift will show up for free is really strange for me to understand. And it's not just this guy, it's a big majority of ish knick fans.

I think Phil knows how to play the media and fans. And with his grip of media and fans they don't even want to win. Don't want to try to get a little bit better at a time. Think it will all come from developing hardaway jr, shumpert, and cold Aldrich. Then a superstar is sure to come begging to join and will sign for a discount w pure capspace.

IMO Phil is playing along w his naive fans and telling them he will wait 2-3 or however many years it takes before bringing in superstar. Phil will re work the roster w trades, and he will do it sooner than later.

This thread only: millsap under 10 is funny but not as funny as the discounts gasol will have to take to go to ny - this guy wants discounts on top of that?

Bargnani and Jason smith will have such good years and fit with Carmelo so we'll that renouncing both their rights to sign a Max guy will be a factor in the decision process.

This move would of been impossible few months ago. Gasol is a legit commited guy, dying breed.

But he's just had a kid so he might be looking into securing an even better future.

Never did. Still don't

I don't like when people make bold claims but won't back them up.

If it happens then they will brag about it non stop. But the 99% of the time they are wrong they deny it. So either put up or shut up.

"Knicks fans being Knicks fans". Care to expand on the statement? Anyone who has been on this board long enough knows I'm gonna jump ugly when someone lumps all NY fans into a category. There it is.
