He said that he gained some of that quickness and speed back but he looks slower to me. He is having a very hard time beating people off dribble. It wasn't this bad last year..

Just watched his highlights against the pacers and then came across this following clip. Obviously he lost some of that athleticism since then but I was expecting him to be a little more quicker than he currently is.

Damn what an athlete he was in 2009:bowdown:  If he had that type of athleticism with his current skill set:eek:

Lebron hasnt been fast like that since 2010. It's not coming back.

He has shown he is a very capable player without it.

4:32 is just crazy. Should have never gained weight. But he's probably still got it in him. Last year he got married so that's a serious drain. This year he had that crazy diet. But I'm looking forward to seeing a more athletic player this year.

For a super athlete 30 isn't crazy. I really liked Jordan and Barkley at 32 Karl Malone and Kareem made a serious resurgence at 33. Not their peak forms but they could play better than they did in the two previous years and still at a level near peak.

An athletic resurgence is crazy. Im sure Lebron will play just fine for the next 3-4 years or so. Not like he's been worse since supposedly losing his athleticism.

It's preseason. Wait until his basketball legs get back. He was still was getting around his defender quite easily. I wouldn't be too worried all things considering. He's been like this the past several years with slow athletic starts. But yea, he's never getting back his peak combination of quickness, and athletic ability which was 2008 - 2010.

Mentally, he's starting to regress.

We're gonna see an even more passive LeBron this year since he has superstar teammates to do the dirty work.

He'll get all the credit for "leading" and "distributing" but in reality Irving and Love will be hitting pressure shots to win ball games and I'll outright call them better players if their season goes how I think it will.

He'll never get back to 08-10 athleticism....But he might have a better first step this year than last...He said he's down to 250 now which means he was playing at like 270 these past few years. that's just absurd

Like others have said it's preseason but still a bit strange he isn't noticeably faster especially considering he should be lighter from that diet this summer. But I'm sure he's going to gun for one of his best seasons again.

EVERYONE looks fast in that 2009 clip. Don't go by highlight footage, it often isn't at the right speed to reflect real time.

Agreed. This is why I watch all highlights in super slowmo in order to get the real game-speed.

:oldlol:

eliteballer is a weird dude.

BTW, the game in person @ floor level is WAY FASTER than it is in real time speed on the television.

Like no comparison. It's a blur at times.

I think he looks faster/quicker than in any of his Miami years.

this. Last year during the pre season we had the same discussion here

Where does the idea that he regressed significantly in his athleticism with Miami? Maybe a little in 2014 but in 2011-2013 he was capable of being just as explosive as ever.

He gained all the weight back

Tough to judge things like this during preseason too, people always say it seems half as fast as the reg season
