After spraining his ankle real bad in Game 6 of the 1988 NBA Finals, Isaiah went the **** OFF in the 3rd Quarter vs the Lakers. He almost won the title for Detroit right there, but somehow L.A. overcame his heroic efforts.

I remember watching this game and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Being a Lakers and Bulls fan (Magic's Showtime Lakers got me into watching the NBA, then I "discovered" MJ and the Bulls during the 1987-1988 season), I hated the hell out of the Pistons and was mad as **** that this little dude was dropping bombs all over L.A. and was about to lead Detroit to the title.

But, later on, I could appreciate what Detroit did in the late 80s/early 90s. For some reason, this performance is usually slept on as far as all time great NBA Finals performances go.

Great game from 2nd GOAT point guard.

Probably wouldve won if laimbeer didnt get that soft foul on kareem at the end of the game. Wouldve been an amazing way to close out the series.

OP - are you the artist formerly known as "The Man"? He was also a big Magic turned MJ fan - and hated the Pistons with the fury of a thousand suns. :oldlol:

Great performance I might add. Remember watching an NBA Classic verz of this game, thinking Isiah Thomas was possessed.

LOL, nah this is my only account.

I've mentioned it plenty of times here at ISH, but lots of folks forget I've talked about how I got into watching the NBA around 1985. Didn't see too many games, so I only knew a few teams back then (mainly the Lakers, Celtics and 76ers--Dr. J was still in the league then). As a Showtime Lakers fan, I hated the Celtics, though I did cheer for them in the 1986 Finals when Houston knocked L.A. out of the playoffs. I didn't know about MJ and the Bulls until 1987 (didn't become a hardcore NBA fan until that year when I got exposed to a whole bunch of teams and players--thanks to Superstation TBS!).

Started to respect the Celtics during the 1987 playoffs. Their ECF match up with the Pistons is still my all time favorite playoff series (yes, even more than any of the series MJ's Bulls or Magic's Lakers played in). Started to really hate the Pistons in 1988 when they knocked off the Bulls, then the Celts and then almost beat the Lakers in the Finals.

And of course, I REALLY hated them bastards the next year when they won it all.

But, as with a lot of things, when you get older your feelings start to change. Now, I can say I respect what Detroit did back then. Hell, they helped toughen up my Bulls, allowing them to dominate the 90s. I ain't mad at 'em. :pimp:

I feel it. You should post more often, educating the young bloods here. Aside from your constant shitting on the "LeStans", I enjoy reading your posts on Mike, Nique and Magic. Stay up
