I started watching basketball in the 90s, when I was a kid, so I never got to see the greatest Rockets like Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes, Calvin Murphy, and Ralph Sampson play.

Anyway, here's my list.

Hakeem Olajuwon
Yao Ming
Tracy McGrady
Steve Francis
Clyde Drexler
Kenny Smith
Cuttino Mobley
Sam Cassell
Aaron Brooks
Kyle Lowry

Honorable Mentions
Chuck Hayes/Luis Scola/Shane Battier - Like what they brought to the team. They were never selfish players and always played with their hearts.
Dwight/Harden - I like these guys, but they're not my favorite Rockets yet because they both haven't been part of the team for a long time.
Mario Ellie - "Kiss of Death". That is all.

Some great names there. Cat is definitely slept on.

Battier would make my top 5 Houston players for sure. Hustle and defense -- the only things I look for in a role player, and Battier mastered both.

I don't get it.

Unless I missed a ton of player movement, your "team" is Lebron James. Gotta leave him off.

Team = Seattle Supersonics

4 guards =

Nate McMillan: They called Gary Payton the "glove" sometime during the 90s but as a joke, Nate's nickname was the "mitten" as he had defensive prowess just not as a high caliber as GP. He was undoubtedly the Sonics' locker room guy and was very influential to the veterans and rookies alike. His presence in the Seattle area and his professionalism was something I greatly appreciated about him.

Ray Allen: He was the Sonics' franchise player from 2003-2007. To compensate for what was lacking with team success (apart from the 2005 playoff run), Ray brought some excitement from an individual success POV. He made the most 3s in one season (since then broken by Stephen Curry recently). His silky smooth jumper is one of the most aesthetically pleasing I have personally witnessed in person.

"Downtown" Freddie Brown (never saw him play as he retired before I got into NBA ball but had the 3 point line been there throughout his whole career, he would've been right at the top along with Reggie Miller and Ray Allen.) I guess you could say he was Seattle's Ray Allen before Ray Allen came to Seattle.

Vincent Askew: to most fans he is virtually unknown. But I always loved his tough 1 on 1 defense and his ability to create shots on offense and draw fouls. He was the Sonics' version of John Starks as he rose to the ranks of the NBA by playing overseas and in the CBA. And of course I am a sucker for an underdog baller.

Interestingly enough I didn't include GP because OP said 4 guards. GP would've been my 5th favorite guard.

4 forwards =

Shawn Kemp: He's the reign man! Gary Payton may have been the best player of those teams in the 1990s but Kemp brought the power dunks and flamboyance of a showman. That dunk over Alton Lister in the 1992 playoffs vs the GSWs is one of my most cherished memories ever as a Sonics fan.

Kevin Durant: Yes I counted him because he played his NBA rookie season with the Sonics in Seattle. Even as a young 19 year old rookie he had poise, skill, and greatness written all over him.

I can only say those 2 forwards are my favorites and cannot name 2 others who are my favorites. Even though Detlef Schrempf was a great baller, I cannot say he was amongst my favorites. The reason is...I once met him and asked for an autograph and he flat out refused. Yea. it's petty to be butt hurt over this but I was 14 when it happened and to this day it still stands in my mind.

2 centers =

Steve Sheffler (he was the team's 12th man from 1993-1997 and was extremely popular with fans at home games). On the other hand, I did meet Steve. My brother and I asked for his autograph and he happily signed them. Like Vincent Askew, he has spent time in the CBA but his career was that of a lesser known Brian Scalabrine.

Jack Sikma (never saw him play and he retired before I became an NBA fan but based on his archive footage on youtube, his shot fake was a beauty to watch in action).
