View Full Version : Gasol wanted to join Lebron in Miami

"They couldn't really give me certainty of certain things," Gasol said. "Of LeBron..."

"So that was important, as far as my decision went," Gasol said. "So at the time that I made my decision, basically it still wasn't clear. It seemed like LeBron wasn't going to go back, so I felt like Chicago was going to be a better fit for me."

Lebron got groupies without even having to recruit them.

while we're at it, Kobe's other buddy Ariza also wanted to join

Ariza felt like it would have been a "plus" to play with James, or to fill some of his role.

"So it was a win-win for me," Ariza said, laughing.

This. If Gasol really wanted to play with Lebron so bad why didn't he sign in Cleveland?

Could of easily signed Gasol and played him at Center, doubt the Bulls gave him anymore than the Cavs would need to. Andy or Gasol? Ask Lebron who he'd really choose if given a chance.

they already had tristan and andy, both who are very close to lebron. LBJ wanted love, bottomline. This was floating around on the heat board a month ago from dan lebatard but Gasol denies it

LeBatard on the radio: Pau Gasol was set to sign with Heat until LeBron texted him

So i caught a report on my FB newsfeed from Miami Heat FB page that Gasol was set to sign w/ Miami until Lebron txt him. I didn't make a fuss about it or even gave it a 2nd thought, plus nobody else had or was reporting it until now. According to Dan LeBatard, Pau Gasol was close to signing with the Miami Heat...until LeBron James texted him....

Quote

This was just said during the local hour of Dan LeBatard's radio show. Apparently Riley had Gasol locked up until LeBron told Pau he wasn't coming back. This was before Riley was informed that LBJ wasn't coming back.

I don't have a link or anything but if you do a twitter search for "gasol lebron" you will see several people talking about it.

http://www.reddit.co...as_set_to_sign/

So if this is true would this suggest Gasol knew before us? Lebron was able to repel gasol from us but not tell us in advance of his decision?

I heard it, but at the same time, you're leaving some info out from the report: Gasol was only coming to the Heat knowing Lebron was going there, and Lebron left it ambiguous for him. Lebron leaving Miami is ultimately what made Pau not come here. The texting didn't really affect his decision.

Gasol was coming to the Heat to be a Lebron coat-tail rider, he doesn't care for anyone else besides Bron. So this was more about Gasol not wanting to come here than Lebron keeping him out.

you can spin it anyway you like, but the fact is, had miami put together a team for lebron, and he stayed, gasol would be in a heat jersey.

this is irrelevant though. chicago has been lebron's personal waste dump since his rookie season. that isn't going to change anytime soon.

It will make it that much sweeter when we finally do kick him and his super friends out of the playoffs then. Our guys will be kicked and punched and thrown door so they can eventually break that barrier and beat him.

And if it takes another year, that's OK. Becsuse you know why? I'll stick with my TEAM thru and thru cuz the reward will be everything. I'm not loathing myself to be a fan of one guy wherever he goes. Or defend everything he does and try to bash anyone who is seen as competition.

being too big of a fan of a team or a player is not something anyone should be proud of.

How is being a fan of a team that is privately owned playing in a privately owned league any better than being a fan of a player? it is just something that has being fed to us because if everyone followed players then it wouldn't be as profitable for the league.

Being a fan of your college team or your country's team makes some sense but being a blind fan of team playing in a private league is as idiotic as being a player stan.

celtics, lakers and bulls fan can never say that it is hard to be fan of their team even in the down years because whenever someone talks about your current team's failure, you throw "16/17 rings, what has your team done" at their face or just say "The GOAT played for our franchise" when you are getting murdered in any debate.

Don't get into the semantics and politics part of that. No one cares of the owners of "private owned" like you said.

There is a certain proudness you get as a fan of a team and not a player. Its nice to have loyalty you know? Its nice to cheer for the team you've cheered for your entire life. You go thru their crappy years but still watch the games, go to games, hell even start watching college games hoping to see a potential draftee for your team. That is what makes being a fan of a team respectable. Where as a player fan is someone who will have a bias opinion or agenda to push to talk about their guy.

Being a blind fan? What does that even mean? Honestly I couldn't disagree with you more on that part. And even trying to compareme and both sides of fandom is unfathomable to me and many others.

team fans have even more biased opinions than player fans.
Also, why should i not get into the semantics and politics when that is the very reason most team fans give for being better than player fans?
Saying good things about a player when he is not playing well is what i am against like when someone says that lebron didn't deserve the blame for 2011 finals but at the same time team fans should also accept when their team is/was inferior but that is not encouraged as it is thought of as a part being a true fan of a team.
lets compare for a second: was it harder for a lebron fan in 2011-12 season to support him than supporting bulls after 98?
i would say that being a lebron fan and supporting him during that season after 2011 choke was harder for his fans than anything you would face as a bulls fan.
i didn't truly liked lebron till 2012 playoffs so it isn't like i am talking about myself or praising myself. i am practical and i like teams player that are trying their best and are doing good but i don't shit on players/team that are direct competitors to my favorite players/team.

It's not that hard to understand. It's their job to play basketball and make money doing it. With Lebron you have the biggest chance of winning a ring. Which means more money in the future because you are a champion. Pretty simple.
